Sarah Horrell Obituary
Sarah Farmer Horrell, age 104, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Britthaven of Northchase.
She was born in Wilson, NC on May 11, 1904. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents Rex Lee Farmer and Mary Elizabeth Moore Farmer; eight siblings, husband, Robert Sidney Horrell and her granddaughter Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Horrell.
Sarah graduated from Nurses Training at Edgecombe General Hospital in Tarboro, NC on May 12, 1924 and received additional training at Babies Hospital, Wrightsville Beach with Dr. Sidbury. Sarah was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Wilmington since the early 1930's, and was a life member of Goldenrod Chapter #142, Order of the Eastern Star in Wilmington.
Sarah is survived by her son, Major Reginald (Rex) Horrell, USAF-Ret., Wilmington and daughter-in-law Mary Jane H. Horrell; daughter, Julia Horrell Starn of Wilmington and son-in-law James C. (Bud) Starn. Five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held 2 pm Monday, October 20, 2008 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Wilmington officiated by The Rev. Theodore McConnell. Her ashes will be placed in the church memorial garden.
A special thank you to Dr. Kavita Persaud and the staff on Pelican Wing at Britthaven of Northchase for all the extra care given to her.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 16 N 16th St., Wilmington, NC 28401.
