Larry Lynwood Jones, Sr., 70, of Oak Island, NC, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 17, 1941, in Brunswick County, NC. He was a son of the late Gettie and Dora White Jones. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, L.D., Ed, and Jarvis Jones, sister, Naomi Hewett, and nephew, Tony Jones.
He was a veteran of the US Army, a Master Mason, Pilgrim with the Fraternal Order of the Moose, member of the Fraternal Order of Police, past owner and operator of The Jones' Seafood House, Oak Island.
Mr. Jones retired as Chief Deputy from the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office with 30+ years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Pam Glover Jones; two sons, Larry Lynwood Jones, Jr., of Ash, Jason W. Jones, and wife, Michele, of Oak Island; two granddaughters, Sydney and Lyndsey Jones; brother, Ray Jones, and wife, Joy, of Oak Island; two sisters, Etta Mae Stanley, of Bricklanding, and Jeanette Roach, of Oak Island.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 20th in the Beach Road Baptist Church by the Rev. Ray Webb.
Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens with law enforcement honors.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday evening, May 19th at Beach Road Baptist Church 4457 Flagship Ave., SE, Southport, NC 28461.
