Vivian V. Phelps, 90, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012 at her daughter's home in Onancock, VA. Mrs. Phelps was born in Supply on November 24, 1921 to the late George and Bertha Lee Clemmons Phelps.

In addition to her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Homer G. Phelps, and son, Robert E. Phelps.

Mrs. Phelps served in the US Women's Auxiliary Army Corp from 1941 to 1946, where she worked with the Adjutant General's Office, Military Police, and Administration in Ft. Dix, NJ, and received a Good Conduct Medal. Vivian loved gardening, her family, and church.

Vivian is survived by her daughter; Patricia Phelps Doughty and husband Robert of Onancock, VA, son; Wayne Phelps of Grant, AL, special daughter; Joyce Lowrimore of Supply, sisters; Lillian Batson of Holland, MI, and Flossie Clemmons of Wilmington, brothers; Cecil Phelps of Ocean Isle, and Warren Phelps of Mt. Pleasant, SC, grandchildren; Christy Phelps Spivey and husband Chris, Veronica Phelps Byrd and husband Travis, Deanna Phelps, and Christopher Phelps and wife Terrie, great-grandchildren; Lydia and Drew Redden, Tyler and Hannah Spivey, and Addy Phelps.

A visitation for Mrs. Phelps will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service Oleander Chapel from 5:30pm until 7:30pm.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Leland First Baptist Church Cemetery at 11:00am, with military honors being performed by Post 10 of the American Legion.

Vivian requested no flowers; please remember her with memorials to Leland First Baptist Church, 517 Village Rd NE Leland, NC 28451, and to Hospice of the Eastern Shore, 165 Market Street, Suite 3, Onancock, VA 23417.
