FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Mrs. Gussie Tyler Ammons, 104, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012 in Village Green Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Gussie Ammons was a devoted and caring granny to her family. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary, Cross Creek Garden Club, Twenty Club, American Business Women's Association and was Woman of the Year in 1972, charter member of Northwood Temple, Lafayette Society and the Fayetteville Women's Club. She was a very talented seamstress and craft maker which she shared with her family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in Northwood Temple 4250 Ramsey St. Fayetteville, N.C. 283111 with Dr. John Hedgepeth officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park 2301 Ramsey St. Fayetteville, N.C. 28301. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, November 24, 2012 one hour prior to the service. Active pallbearers will be: Jim Ammons, Jamie Ammons, W. P. Dorman, Tommy Ammons, Jimmy Westbrook, Joe Ciriano, Mike Gilchrist, Dave Troutman and Marc Michaelson. Mrs. Ammons is survived by her daughter Judy and her husband Willie Dorman of Fayetteville, daughter Pat and her husband Wallace Westbrook of Wilmington, sister-in-law Peggy Tyler wife of the late Lee Tyler of Danville, Va., eight grandchildren: James Floyd Ammons, Jr. and his wife Sandy of Fayetteville, Thomas W. Ammons of Lillington, Jimmy Westbrook of Linden, Lisa Troutman and her husband Dave of Fayetteville, Jane Gilchrist and her husband Mike of Raleigh, Jennifer Michaelson and her husband Marc of Cincinnati, Ohio, Joe Ciriano of Burlington husband of the late Joy Ammons Ciriano, Willie Purdie Dorman III of Fayetteville, eleven great-grandchildren: Jamie and Sarah Ammons, Ashley, Emily, Charles and Grace Ciriano, William and Elizabeth Gilchrist, Andre Tyler Troutman, Nate and Nolan Michaelson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Liberty Hospice Services, 1830 Owen Drive Suite 103, Fayetteville, N.C. 28304. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville, N.C.
