WARSAW, NC -- Milford R. Quinn, 88, passed away March 22, 2013, at home. Mr. Quinn was born in Beulaville, NC on November 12, 1924 to the late Tharon Roscoe and Isla Bell Quinn.

During Milford's life, he built 2 successful businesses-Quinn Wholesale Company and Quinn Farms. Milford served 40 years on the Campbell University Board of Trustees and recently earned Trustee Emeritus. Mr. Quinn's contributions to Christian higher education through scholarships and service earned him Campbell's Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award and the Distinguished Alumnus award. Mr. Quinn also received the Honorary Doctor of Law degree from Campbell in 1989. Milford served on the Foundation Boards of East Carolina University and Mount Olive College. He was a member of the Board of Advisors for the Sarah W. Steadman Center at Duke University Hospital.

He was a past director of IGA, Byrd's Foods Stores, Inc., Carroll's Foods, Inc. and of Consolidated Companies. Milford was also a past President of the North Carolina Wholesalers Association. He was a former director of the United Carolina Bankshares, Inc. Milford was a past member of the Board of Deacons of Warsaw Baptist Church, a member of the Warsaw-Kenansville Rotary Club and past chairman of the Duplin County Development Commission.

Among the honors he received are the Hugh G. Ashcraft, Jr. Leadership Award from the NC Food Dealers Association, Tar Heel of the Week from The News and Observer, Duplin County Hall of Fame, Distinguished Citizen Award by the Boy Scouts of America, Outstanding Eastern North Carolina Industry Award and the Baptist Heritage Award.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Reba Sanderson Quinn; His four sons, Terry Quinn (Betty) of Wilmington, Craig Quinn (Susan) of Warsaw, Robin Quinn of Kenansville and Kim Quinn (Michelle) of Kenansville; Five grandchildren, Mary Quinn Pruitt (Chase), Townsend Quinn (Emily), Cameron Quinn, Ramsay Quinn, Holden Quinn; and 2 great grandchildren, Sallie Grace Quinn and Charlotte Quinn.

He is also survived by one brother, Gerald Quinn (Rita), and two sisters, Grace Quinn Carlton and Faye Quinn Williams, and one brother-in-law, Johnny Jenkins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Zona Quinn Jenkins and brother, I.J. Quinn.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 24, 2013, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Warsaw Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow service at Devotional Gardens, Warsaw, NC.
