Coddington, Donn Age 81, of Eden Prairie, died December 27, 2012 after a long illness. Preceded in death by parents, Forrest and Doris Coddington. Survived by Mary, his loving wife, his much loved children, Steve of Colorado and Amy of New Hampshire; sister-in-law, Nancy Barthlow; nieces and nephews, and many special friends. Donn grew up in Peru, Illinois where he graduated from high school. He went on to the University of Michigan
receiving a B.A. in English literature and then to the University of Chicago where he received an M.A. in Theology. He enjoyed two careers, first as a Congregational (U.C.C.) minister serving churches in Edina, St. Paul, and Wheaton, Illinois and then twenty-six years at the Minnesota Historical Society. In retirement he shared his knowledge of history teaching a course on Minnesota history for 10 years with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Donn was a voracious reader and life-long learner, enjoyed traveling, and especially liked time spent with family and friends. He was a loving husband to Mary, a caring, encouraging, and loving father to Steve and Amy, and a good friend to many. The family wish to express their gratitude to the care- givers, staff, and friends at Summit Place and to the Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital Hospice for their kindness and expertise. At Donn's request, a private family celebration of his life will be held.
