Mehl, LaMae Jean Died on December 16, 2012 at her residence, Rock Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Surprise, AZ . LaMae was born in Frost, MN on Dec. 1, 1930 to Minnie and Albert Ingebritson. She is survived by her loving husband, Raymond and her two daughters, Kris McLaughlin (Peter) and Mary Jacobus (Julio Huato) four step-children, Kevin Mehl, David Mehl (Kathy), Kristen Mehl (Linda Hermann), and Jeffrey Mehl (Sally). She was preceded in death by her brother, Marlyn Ingebritson, her son, Jeffrey Jacobus, and her step-son, Stephen Mehl. LaMae graduated from Waldorf College and Mankato State University with degrees in education and taught for 13 years in Iowa and Minnesota. LaMae and Raymond Mehl were married 33 years and shared a blended family of eight children and 14 grandchildren. LaMae served in many volunteer ministries as a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, S.D. She was a co-trainer for Stephen's Ministry. She served on the Immigrant Resettlement Committee sponsored by Lutheran Social Services. She also taught English as a Second Language to immigrant populations in Sioux Falls. She was an active member of numerous church circles and altar guilds in congregations throughout her life. She served on the Luther Seminary Friends Board. LaMae became interested in the concerns of the aging, and served as the President of the Eastern South Dakota Chapter for the Alzheimer's Association. Her faith in God stirred her heart to humble service which was a quiet inspiration for many. The family is grateful for the loving and caring staff at both Mary's Place and the Rock Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center.
