Eastlack, Galen 64, left this world quietly on Friday, July 19, 2013. He left us with a smile, which is the way he chose to live. As a husband, father, grand- father, son, and friend, he viewed life through a prism of laughter and joy. He only saw the good in people, and was generous with his time and money for those less fortunate. He always found a way to extract humor from any situation. When his leg was amputated, he found joy in knowing he would soon be able to run after his grandchildren. When he was diagnosed with Stage IV glioblastoma in Feb., he was content to carry the burden of a shortened life, and determined to live every remaining minute to its fullest, and that he did. At the end of June he was told he only had a few weeks to live; and the house became filled with his children and grands for a month of reminiscing, laughter and making memories. Galen's heart was completely owned by his eight grandchildren, on loan occasionally to an adoring wife of 33 years. Together they raised 5 children of their own, and spent 22 years raising many foster children. He is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Joseph and Isabella. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; Troy and Lisa (Ahyoung, Mia), Steven and Lisa (Andy, Clare, John), Tony and Jennie (Olivia, Cooper, Elwin), Belinda and Dan, and Rick; parents, Robert and LuVerne Eastlack; brothers, Gary (Pat), Tom (Cindy); sister-in-laws, Julene (Tim), Francine (Roy); parents-in-law, Donna and Earl Holmes, Aunts Joan and Doris, and many adoring nieces and nephews. He was kind enough to have shown us exactly how to deal with our loss. Smile. You are invited to join his family for a memorial service to celebrate his life on Friday, July 26th, at 10 am at their home at 1512 3rd Ave NE, Buffalo, MN. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being created to assist persons going through cancer treatment at the Monticello Cancer Center.
