Margaret and I were shocked and saddened to learn only yesterday of Father Hogan's death in June. He was a great man and a great priest. We will miss him. He and his family are in our thoughts and prayers.

TO THE HOGAN FAMILY:
Know of our sincere sympathy on the premature passing of FR. RICHARD M. HOGAN, diligent and faithful pastor of St. Raphael in Crystal, and nephew of
the legendary late Msgr. Richard J. Schuler. Both Fr. Richards were formidable persons intellectually and personally--and great apologists and ministers of God's grace in their many years of priesthood (with Fr. Hogan's
tragically cut short).

Know of our sincere prayers and sympathy--and both Father Richards are remembered in Masses at the CHURCH of ST. AGNES, St. Paul, MN.

Sincerely,
TUESDAY NIGHT SEMINARIAN DISCUSSION GROUP ALUMNI

Father Hogan,

You touched the lives of many while sharing TOB & NFP with others. I am very thankful to God for priests like you in our lives, for those who, like you, give themselves in heart, mind, and soul to share something that they know can make a difference and change others' lives for better, and for the eternity. All, out of love. Not only did you teach us through your talks and writings how we are all called to be a gift, but also was I a witness of your giving of self and dying to self for others, when you chose to be with your friend in his last moments, rather than giving the talks that you were appy and excited about.

Thanks Fr. Hogan for teaching us about ourselves and our way to happiness through Truth and Love! And thanks for your love, and joy, when sharing these Truths! It made a big difference!

Thanks for making those coming to you for help feel special, and that you cared about us! Please forgive all of us who did not respond accordingly, and intercede for us to have the grace to not miss it again.

Fr. Hogan, you are missed, but I know that you are now interceding before Our good Lord for all of us, and for all those who love and know what the teachings of JPII can do to the entire humanity, once spread and lived out. We have not lost you; we have gained a friend in heaven.

May Our Father in Heaven look at your love and may it be multiplied in grace for all those who have been and will be touched by your teachings, for they will be spread out until eternity. For what you did, impacted the cosmos.

Gracias Fr. Hogan; enjoy the fullness of life with our Loved Ones Above.

To the Friends and Family: Fr. Hogan was a wonderful presenter to our NFP teachers, clergy, seminarians, and pastoral ministers when he came to the Cleveland Diocese in 2005. I have recommended his books and articles many times. May God grant Richard Hogan eternal rest and peace as he was a good and faithful servant of the Lord.

i know father hogan from his time at blessed sacrament. the last time i saw him a few years ago was when we both lined up at the cash register at leaflet and missal company and we had a little chat. such a dedicated priest

June 23, 2011

When Father Hogan was an associate pastor at St. Raphael's, I took his RCIA class. Although I was a cradle Catholic, the class changed my view of and commitment to my faith. By the time he returned to St. Raphael's, I had married, had four children and was living 20 minutes away. I took those children to the "I'm sorry church" to go to confession to him. He never knew that I brought my children to confession to him, but I did thank him 20 years ago for the impact he had on me. He was such a holy man.

Thank you, Fr. Hogan for your mentorship over these many years personally and professionally. Your insights, accessibility, and love of history has so often broadened my faith, ministry, and understanding.

From NFP to TOB to Theology of the Family to sexual morality, you have been a profound guiding force in my life and I thank you.

May Almighty God take you in his care and allow your priesthood to continue bearing eternal life in those of us still here in the Church Militant.

Requiescat in pace.

Fr Richard was a very dear friend of our family and our most frequent dinner guest for 20 years. He was a great mentor and supporter of our college and grad school kids, having triumphed in Academia himself. He was open to all questions, engaging in debate over current events, and a fabulous resource for history facts and figures. He loves the Church, warts and wrinkles, he loves the people, and loves his friends. He was generous with his time and expertise, helping many with Catechetical materials etc. He was indefatigable in encouragement to make the Liturgy heavenly and to sacrifice for the truth. May he exalt in joy with the Lord and pray for us. Thank you Fr Richard for all you gave.

I will not be able to think of Theology of the Body without thinking of Fr. Hogan's insights on it. I did not have the honor of meeting him personally, but he was a wonderful online tutor, always at the ready to clarify and teach. Our list consisted of some 50 to 100 people, and all of us profited because he took the time to read our posts, and answer them. His reach was global in this small group, i imagine it was even more so in person. May God bless him and bless you, his family, through his obedience and dedication to His Church. He will be missed, he is loved.

I remember Richard Hogan from St. Austin's Catholic School in North Minneapolis. He was a little on the quiet side and very nice. I also remember Barb. "We all called her 'the curve wrecker', because she was so, so smart. One could not ever get at all upset with her, however, because she was the nicest, happiest person always. Richard & Barb were good people from a good family. Sincere condolences.

We are sorry to hear of your loss. I wasn't aware that Fr.Richard wasn't well when my brother and I visited him last year. He was very generous and patient digging out genealogy pictures and records for us and we had a delightful couple of hours going through the scrapbooks of Msg. Richard and Marie Schuler. I know I will miss him and we send prayers and condolences to all of you.

Our deepest sympathy and prayers are with you now as always but with special emphasis during this difficult time. Fr. Richard, may you rest eternally in peace with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Fr.Hogan was a dear friend ours. He was the priest that heard our youngest daughters first confession and the celebrant at her first communion (she is now 25).
He is sorely missed and will always be, a good and holy man. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

We worked together on Project Genesis. Fr. Hogan was able to articulate the Theology of the Body so easily when others were grasping. His work to support the dignity of the human person will live on in the hearts and lives of the many people he served. May he rest in peace. Rose Fuller

To the Hogan Family,

What a kind, blessed, gentle, and faithful man he was. Our family has so much respect for him and what he stood for. He helped all of us in so many ways with our faith. He will truly be missed but we know God has chosen a greater path for him.

You, his family, our in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of his life within our faith because he truly has taught so many to believe and treasure in it.
