Mikey helped save Meadowbrook Men's Club back in 1996 when the course was under renovation. Without him as our president that year our club might not have survived. he was one of the funniest guys I ever knew- the stories are legendary.

Family of Mike Hammel

I remember Mike from many years ago when I met his brother Fred whom I went to school with. There are many wonderful memories I remember just "hanging out at his house" and getting to know the family. I knew them all and remember the kindnes, how I was always made to feel at home. It is hard to see everybody gone but Willard. I helped Mike move in the early 50s when he first got married and how kind and gentle hearted he was. Later when he was at "Bunny's" he always had a gentle word of encouragement when I was single again in the early 70s. We met again at the Park nursing home where our fathers spent their final days...he was always there for me! My heart goes out to the family and the many wonderful traditions they had and their love for each other. With a tear in my eye I say my final goodby to a real gentleman who cared for others.

Bev, our sincere sympathy for your loss. Uncle Mike would always keep it lively with his stories, comments and his sense of humor. He made Mom uncomforable numerous times much to our delight. He was larger than life and he will be missed.

When ever Aunt Jeannie and Uncle Mike came to visit, it was always something to look forward to. To a young kid in Waterloo IA, Mike was like a movie star, always larger then life. He told a great story and enjoyed good natured arguements with my mom (Jeannie's sister). You will be missed Uncle Mike. Prayers to your family and friends.
