I also had Mr. Hoberg for a teacher in sixth grade at Valley View Elementary in 1976-1977 (boy, it doesn't seem that long ago!) He was one of my favorite teachers. Always smiling and in a good mood, but not afraid to put us in our place if we were misbehaving :-)We need more teachers like him today. I wish I would have known earlier so I could have attended the service. My thoughts are with his family and friends who I am sure will miss him so very much.

I am so sorry to the family of Mr. Hoberg. I had him as a teacher when I was in 6th grade and I will never forget his crazy nicknames and off the wall humor. I just found out about his passing at a Columbia Heights reunion get together this weekend; I would have liked to attend the service. My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time. Mr. Hoberg will never be forgotten.

Mr. Hoberg was my 6th grade teacher at Valley View Elementary School during the 1969 - 1970 school year. It was in 1970 that my own mother had died. I'll never forget how kind and gentle Mr Hoberg was and he even came to her funeral. Now that almost 40 years have passed I think of how tough that must have been for such a young teacher. He'll always have a special place in my heart. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family and friends.

I was really saddened to hear of Bob's passing. I am one of the older cousins that he had to deal with. My brother John and Bob were born at about the same time and they played and palled together when they were young. I am pleasantly pleased with reading about his daughter. Since our parents have all passed away and Gene & Gloria are gone we didn't hear much of Bob and his family He leaves a great legacy and void in all the "Cousins".

Dear Allysen and family,
Please accept my inadequate condolances at the loss of your father. I met him only a few times over the years but was drawn into his presence immediately and warmly. I know he was a special friend to Henry and I am sorry that his little soul must experience the great mystery of loss. I pray that you will find comfort and courage in these difficult days.
Peace,

Peggy and Family: I feel proud and honored to have had the opportunity to work with Bob at Central Middle School. Bob was always one of the first staff members to help out, whether it be for kids or for staff development. I learned a lot from Bob - he had many years of teaching experiences. Bob always had high expectations of his students and held students accountable for both their learning and behavior. I really admired Bob for that. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your extended family.

Bob's commitment to staff and students, his work ethic, and his humor are legendary in Columbia Heights schools. Though I only had a couple of years as a new staff member to know him, I was quick to recognize how lucky I was to be able to work alongside one of the best. My husband and I will be ever grateful for the help he gave us as a union officer and a very caring human being.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Bob. I loved him dearly and have always cherished our time together at CMS, working on Union issues and most importantly, our personal early morning lunchroom discussions about life. I will always remember his sage wisdom.
