Thompson, Ileen 3 Feb. 1922 to 27 Apr. 2008 A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 11 AM, with a visiting hour preceding at 10 AM with services to be held at First Lutheran Church of Columbia Heights, 1555 40th Ave NE. Ileen Thompson was born in Barnum, MN to parents Olive Marie (Wieck) and George Arnold Thompson. She married the love of her life, Floyd V. Thompson in Sept. of 1940. They relocated to the Columbia Heights/Fridley area where they shared their life with friends and family for the past 60 years. In her working career she spent several years at Ecklunds Clothing in Mpls. and the majority of her career at the University of MN Hospital. She was well known as a tireless volunteer at First Lutheran Church on committees, in the choir, and as a master cook for many dinners and events. Ileen is survived by a large congregation of family and friends; husband, Floyd Thompson of Columbia Heights; and five children they raised, Harland Thompson, Judie Krzystofiak, Gail Thompson, Daryl Thompson and Chari Eckmann; they have 3 grandchildren, Charleen Schutte, Chantell Pickles and Naomi Eckmann; and 4 great-grandchildren, Steven and Sarah Dovala and Rachael and Elliot Pickles. She is also survived by her siblings, Ronald Thompson, Beverly Stark, Richard Thompson and Marie Ziemer; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
