Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 25, 2011.
Blanchard, Mary K. Age 75, of Apple Valley, passed away peacefully on December 19th after a long struggle with multiple myeloma. Mary was a 1953 graduate of St. Paul Central High School and a 1957 graduate of the University of Minnesota. After initially working as a primary school teacher, Mary devoted her life to her family. As her children grew more independent, Mary was able to enjoy the company of many good friends through her involvement with golf and tennis. She also set aside time to volunteer at Fairview Southdale Hospital and as a Traveler's Aid at the airport. In 2007, she celebrated her 50th anniversary with her husband, Rod, who passed away in 2008. Mary is survived by: son, Robert (Yuliya); daughter, Catherine (Mark) Dolan; grandsons, James, Benjamin, Nicholas and David; sister, Joyce (Spence); brother-in-law, Duane (Ruth); and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family will hold a memorial service for relatives and friends at 2:00 PM on January 2nd at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina (952-924-4100). Visitation 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the N.C. Little Memorial Hospice, 7019 Lynmar Lane, Edina, MN 55435.
