Heacock, Robert D. "Bob" of Apple Valley, passed away January 12, 2012, 5 days short of his 94 birthday. He was preceded by his wife, Jeanette, of 66 years. Survived by children, Jacquelyn (Don) Wicklund, Robert Jr., and Cindy (Tom) Bredow; 4 grandchildren, Robert Wicklund, Kristen (Craig) Potts, Wendy Bredow, James Bredow; 4 great-grandchildren. Bob was born in Auburn, NE and attended the U of NE in Omaha. He entered the Army Air Corps in 1943. He was a 1st lieutenant with the 8th Air Force, 94th Bomb Group, 410th Bomb Squadron. Bob was lead bombardier on the original crew of the B17 "Days Pay". After the war he began his career in the insurance industry in NE. A move in 1956 brought him to MN where he was employed by NW Nat'l Life Ins. Co., which is now ING, as an underwriter. He finished his career as a first vice president when he retired in 1983. In retirement he moved to Arizona where he lived for 12 years before moving back to Minnesota. He and Jan spent summers at their place on Lake Vermillion in northern MN. They returned to live in MN in the mid ‘90s. Bob loved golfing, fishing, hunting and volunteering. He spent the last years of his life at the Apple Valley Villa. A special thanks to Dory Hanks, his nurse for the past year. Memorials to Fairview Hospice or the CAP Agency. Burial will be at Dawn Valley Memorial Park with military honors. My husband Bob and I had many wonderful times with the Heacocks, and the men took the children on camping trips. He was a great family man, and a true friend.
