Though I didn't know him for long he still touched my life. I know how much he meant to all his friends in the "car" world. Bob will be greatly missed.

"Teet" and family, my deepest sympathy in the passing of your dad, I remember the "Mr. Tune Up" we would come up and see you guys all the time when we would go to Nokomis Lake to go swimming then jump off the bridge. My prayers are with your family, great memories.

Some of you will recognize this photo. This photo was taken, I would guess around maybe 1970-72.

Teet, Mike, Linda, and Sandy,
I'm writing to pass along the only words of condolence that ever made sense to me - eventually. It was after my own dad had died, and the priest had just finished the liturgy. I was a bit inconsolable. That priest put his arm around me, and what he said went something like this....
"Just because their gone from our presence doesn't mean we can't talk to them. And, it doesn't mean they won't talk back. I know it sounds a little strange, but just about the time you really just have to hear the sound of their voices, if you're really listening, you will. It may have already happened. If not, listen a little closer. It will happen."
At the time it didn't make me feel too much better to think I was going to be hearing voices. But, wouldn't you know that priest was true to his word. And when it happened, it was at just the right time. Since then, I've made a practice out of talking with all my loved ones who have passed on. It seemed crazy at first, but now I'm simply amazed at how connected we stay.
You are all in my thoughts and in my heart. Always. Angie

Dear Bob, I so applaud your efforts to hang with us, yet I totally get why you chose to move on. You may have passed out of this physical world recently, but you'll be in my heart forever - and there's just nothing you can do about that! Bob, I know I didn't tell you enough, but my life simply wouldn't have been the same without you in it. I loved you then, I love you now, and always. Give Jan a big hug and a kiss for me. Love, Angie

How do I begin...the many adventures of our childhood to our last conversation on the phone Wednesday, and then being so grateful to have been by your side, and held you and talked to you as you left this earth for a better place. I look at the picture of you and me as kids daily. I pray for you to be at peace. I am thankful to your children Mike and Teresa and Linda and thier love and warmth on our last visit. Share our love with Bernie, Mary, Dick, Don, Mom and Dad, and of course Jan and Donna. May you rest in peace Brother! I love you.

Grandpa,
I am so devastated by the losses that the McGinleys have endured recently. You left with too short of a notice. I'm glad Manny got to be in the presence of his legendary great grandpa and that the memory is captured in a photo for him to remember you by. For me, I will hold you fondly in my memory-your one liners, admiration and knowledge of cars, devotion to grandma, your beautiful home by Fat-Lorenzos,of course Mr. Tune-Up, and much more. I will take solace in the fact that you are now with my dearly beloved grandma and your daughter Donna. I picture you laughing, singing and exchanging jokes while watching over me and all your loved ones.
I love you grandpa and will miss you so much. I wish I could have given you one last hug. Please hug and kiss grandma for me. Keep each other happy and youthful and dance to your heart's content.
Take care grandpa and rest in peace.
Love You,
Mike, Nonah and Manny

We'll miss you very much Uncle Bob, as you join dad, Jan and Donna and others. My heart goes out to my cousins, as they are without another loved one. I know how hard it is, if any of you want to talk, send me an email, and I'll send you my phone number. Love you guys.

To my cousins, you're in my thoughts and prayers. Uncle Bob was a great person, the work he done with his hands and mind, and mostly with his heart. He loved all people, and now he is not hurting anymore, walking again hand in hand with Aunt Jan. Love & miss you guys.

Bob was such a special person! We spent many Friday nights over the years at their place with the 'old' cars. His heart is mended now as he is with Jan again. Deepest sympathy to the family and friends as you mourn your loss. God's blessings to you all.

Dear McGinley Family
Words cannot express how sorry we are for your great loss. Your dad was a legend in his own time. Lee was so thankful for the knowledge Bob shared with him about cars, and I will always remember his sweet kind manner and his cute smile. I remember Jan telling me he had a voice like Roy Orbison but he would only sing in private. The last time I saw him which was a few months ago he danced with me at the Bloomington VFW while the Delcounts played "Oh Donna". He had his work boots on and oh how he apologized for that. He sang the whole song to me while he danced, and yes his voice was awesome!! That night is forever etched in my memory, and I know how much the song meant to both him and Jan. I pray that they are happy together again and singing and dancing up in heaven waiting for all the rest of us to join them someday.
Rest in peace Bob, your memory shall live in our hearts forever!!

it is times like this that I don't like living so far away. We are all getting older and we ae having to say "good bye" to some of our dearest friends. Bob always had his door open on Friday nights. There was always car stories to be told. He and Jan are now together again. That corner on Cedar will never be the same.

Bob was one in a million. When ever I had a problem with my old fords and didn't know the answer, he was always there with the know how. He would walk me through the fix. Often not charging me. Bob Thank you. You are missed already.

Dear Family,
I was so very sorry to hear about your Dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Though it is sad for everyone left behind we can be comforted that he is with his bride whom he loved and missed so very much. I knew his heart was broken and worried about him. Be grateful for the strength you had to be there for him and for making his last days so comforting for him. Your parents were the best. As I have always missed my friend Donna, I will teasure my memories of your Mom and Dad and miss them as well. I am so very grateful that they were part of my life and for the lessons I learned from them that help me take care of myself in my own life.
Love,
Debbie Lee

I think back to the times I sat and watched Uncle Bob work on cars. The drag racing days and in the beginning the 'circle track' races. We all grew up 'kids around cars'. This man knew his craft and loved his family in the McGinley way. He has gone to find Jan and Donna. I can hear him starting that car to heaven. Have a safe drive, Uncle. I'm waving good-bye...
