Borene, Beverly Ann April 5, 1926 - October 27, 2012 of Edina, MN. Bev passed away in the early morning of October 27, surrounded by her loving family. Survived by children, Scott Borene (Penny Van Kampen) & Jan Borene (Alan Mathiowetz). Like a mother to grandson Andrew Borene (Alice Beauheim). Our mom and "Grammy", was a beautiful, optimistic and inspiring matriarch to us and to an extended family that included cousins, grandchildren through marriage (Adrianne, Paige, Stephanie and Greg), and great-grandchildren (Magnus, Dane and Victoria). Preceded in death by beloved husband of 46 years, Cliff, son Jay, parents Andrew and Alma Leraas, sister Kay McCormick, and brother Robert (Bob) Leraas. Born in Barrett, MN, she spent her childhood in Rochester, and graduated from Minneapolis Washburn High School. Beverly became a young fashion model and while working at Gamble's met Cliff, going on to enjoy a lifetime of adventures together. After marriage, Bev and Cliff lived in St. Louis Park before moving into a new home they designed and built in Edina. An Edina resident for more than 50 years, Bev was passionately committed to diversifying its neighborhoods while working as a realtor - a career she loved. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at Mount Olivet Church, traveling the world with friends and spending time with her family. A witty, welcoming, intelligent woman of grace and style, she loved children, dogs, and visitors, showering them all with treats at every opportunity. Bev was the embodiment of beauty, integrity, indefatigable optimism, joie de vivre and unconditional love. Thank you to all who provided such extraordinary care, especially Mary Imholte with Fairview Hospice, the incomparable N.C. Little Memorial Hospice team, Dr. Jeffrey Rabatin and many others at the Mayo Clinic. Memorials to Animal Humane Society, Fairview Hospice or N.C. Little Memorial Hospice.
