Kulesov, Catherine age 85, of Mpls. Preceded by mother, Lydia Nicholaevna Kosotschkina; father, Leonid Gregorievich Kosotschkin; sister, Nina Leonidovna Ushakov; brother, Alexander Leonidovich Kosotschkin. Survived by son, Alex Kulesov; daughter and son-in-law, Lydia Kulesov and Mark Stanley; husband, Vladimir Yakovlevich Kulesov; nephew, Slava Ushakov; niece, Valeria Henry; grand nephews and nieces, Ruslan, Svetlana and Sasha Ushakov. She was born in Kazan, Russia and grew up and was schooled in St. Petersburg, Russia. She received her Ph.D. from Indiana University, Bloomington in Slavic Language and Literature in 1967. After receiving her Ph.D., she accepted a teaching position in the Department of Russian Studies at the University of Minnesota, where she taught Russian language and literature beginning in 1968. She published various works related to her scholarly research, and was recognized and highly respected in her field as a tenured professor. Catherine was a long-standing member of St. Panteleimon Russian Orthodox Church in Minneapolis and served in the church Sisterhood and as the church librarian for many years. Visitation at KOZLAK-RADULOVICH CHAPEL, 1918 University Ave. NE Sunday from 1:30-4 PM. Vigil Prayers (Panachyda) Sunday at 4 PM. Funeral services at ST. PANTELEIMON RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH, 2210 Franklin Ave SE Monday at 10 AM. Interment Oakland Cemetery. Flowers or memorial donations to Our Lady of Good Counsel are preferred.
