Earley, David Jones August 4, 1931 - July 20, 2009. Died at home peacefully due to heart failure. David was born in Culpmont, PA and spent his youth in Mt. Caramel and Williamsport, PA. He served in the Army Air Corps (US Air Force) from 1949 to 1953 in Colorado and France. He met Helene Virginia Fischer on the steps of the Colorado state capital; they were married on February 4, 1950. David's career was in the insurance industry: first as an adjuster in Nebraska and South Dakota, then as a regional claims manager in St. Paul. For the last five years David worked at his neighborhood Walgreen's. David is preceded in death by his mother, Janet; father, Alexander; brother, Robert; sister, Janet Earley Griffith; and nephews, Mark Griffith and Philip Earley. He is survived by his wife, Helene; daughters, Diana Lechko and Rebecca (Jeff) Nelson; and grandsons, David Lechko and Christopher & Adam Nelson. A celebration of David's life will be held Aug. 4 at Brunswick United Methodist Church, Crystal. Visitation at 10am, service at 11am. Private interment.

Helene and family, my heartfelt condolences!
Thank you for your telephone call, Helene. I am so very shocked and sorry to learn of Dave's sudden death. I remember very well the Sunday afternoon the two of you met. If it had not been for that little three-year-old boy (my son, "Billy") walking ahead of you and me there in front of the Colorado State Capitol, perhaps you never would have met! I think there were three young airmen from Lowry walking towards us who stopped to talk to that little boy ... and asked if he would like to go get some ice cream. Well, of course he would! We all went to an ice cream place just down the street ... and the rest is history! (I even remember your warning me off Dave, Helene, as we followed the boys and Billy to get ice cream. I think I also remember that Billy dropped the ice cream off his cone and it had to be replaced.) And I remember our preparations for your wedding and "standing up" with the two of you at the Lowry Chapel for the ceremony. You chose well; I always have thought that your and Dave's marriage was one of the best I've ever observed.

I first met Dave when I started at Great American Insurance on 3-19-79. Throughout my tenure in his office, I thought he was one of the greatest guys I ever met. He was a superb manager and many of the management techniques I have used throughout my career I learned from Dave. Besides, he was also a snappy dresser (which he attributed 100% to Helene) and always smelled great! I always think of him whenever I get a whiff of Aramis cologne! My sympathies to Dave's family.

I first met David around 10/10/50. We started Air Force Tech. School together at Lowery AFB. I have never met anyone I liked more than Davey Jones Earley. We were stationed at Lowry for 3 yrs. as Instructors. I will always cherish my memories of Dave and Helene in those years we had togeather. My heart goes out to all the Family. Love to all. David has touched so many people in way that he only knew how! I met David last year and even though it was for a year, it felt like I had known him my whole life! His thoughtfulness, compassion and his magnificent smile has touched so many! I am Thankful for the opportunity to have met such a Wonderful and Gracious man! God Bless You David and your family!

I first met Mr Earley 32 years ago when I was a teen working at the Crystal Target snack bar. Mr. Earley brought his family there every Sunday after church. During our Target talks we made the connection that we went to the same church. What a great man he was, always smiling. My condolences to his family. God Bless!

Dave was a very special man, full of life and always had a smile to share. I was hired by Dave to mow their lawn back when I was young and you always felt like he cared for you as a person. May God Bless Dave and his family.

My best memory of Dave was when my new husband and I visited Dave in the hospital because he wasn't able to be at the wedding to sing for us. Becky is my best friend and was my maid of honor. That was 27 years ago. God Bless the Earley family and hold onto all the special memories. Love to you all!
