Tschannen, Ila Mae age 87, of Maple Grove passed away peacefully on 4/4/12. Preceded in death by her devoted husband, Ken Sr., of 55 years. Survived by sons, Ken Jr. (Sandy) and Cameron Sr. (Barb Runde); daughter, Pam; grandchildren, Nadine (Matt) Gregerson, Cameron Jr. and Nicole (Darren) Steinweg and their mother, Debra Larson; and sister, Virginia Quinn. Born August 14, 1924, Ila grew up dirt poor, left home at age 14 and was raised by the Watkins family in Hayti, Missouri. She excelled in school, went to college and became an RN, spending much of her early career as a surgical nurse. Her real calling was raising her children, so she quit nursing in 1956 and devoted her time to her family. As anyone who ate at her table will tell you, one of her passions was cooking and baking - she made magic happen in the kitchen. Her other passion was flower arranging - she won hundreds of ribbons over the years and was President of the Golden Valley Garden Club. The focus of her "retirement" years was taking care of and spoiling her 3 grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Memorials preferred to the Spirit of Hope United Methodist Church of Golden Valley or the Golden Valley Garden Club. Visitation 5-8 PM Friday, April 13. Funeral service 10:30 AM Saturday, April 14 with visitation one hour prior to the service all at: www.Washburn-McReavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996 West 50th St. & Hwy 100
