Kastl, James E. June 2, 1922 -January 20, 2010 James E. Kastl, age 87, of Sugar Lake (Maple Lake) MN (formerly of Minneapolis) passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 20, 2010. Jim was born on June 2, 1922 to Marie Anna (Menousek) and Frank Kastl in Omaha, NE. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign. After the war he returned to Omaha to re-join his young family and was a Regional Salesman for 42 years for Industrial Chemical Laboratories. Jim then founded Concleco cleaning services in the Twin Cities. Upon his full retirement in the late 1970's, he and Mary enjoyed wintering in Mesa, AZ and the summers at their home on Sugar Lake. He was an avid sportsman and golfer. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marie Anna Kastl; one infant daughter, Mary; son, Steve, daughter-in-law, Dawn, grandson Josh; brother, Frank; sisters, Mayme and Teresa. Survived by loving wife of 67 years, Mary nee Carl; sons, Tom (Linda), Chris (Mary), Mike (Terri), Matt (Ellen), Ken (Rose); daughter, Ann Kastl (Mickey Fairbanks); daughters- in-law, Norma, Bridget; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday with Prayer Service 7:00 p.m. at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, 305 Park St E, Annandale & after 9:30 a.m. Sat. at the Church. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Sat., Jan. 23 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 35 Birch St. E, Annandale. Private inurnment at Ft. Snelling in the spring. Dearest Mary and family,
I am very sorry to learn of dear Jim's passing. You know how much he was loved by family & friends. I have many fond memories of the days at Sugar lake and the golf outings with dad and Jim. I was "peppermint patty" to Jim and that is a cherished memory! I wish I could have been with all of you but I know John was. My parents I'm sure put out the welcome mat for Jim and I can just imagine all the talking going on in the heavenly home! Jim was always kind and good to me and to our family. Michael and Sarah have fond memories too. Mary, I regret I didn't stay a bit longer when I came to visit in Oct. I'll be back in the Spring and check-in with you. Sending sympathy and love, Patricia

Our prayers are with you and for you. Mom and Dad always sparkled with news that "Jim and Hort" would be visiting the farm. They sparkled telling stories of time together in Arizona. And Uncle Jim was always the consumate gentleman... who could also tell a good fish story.

My memories of my "Uncle Jimmy" (my mom Mayme's younger brother) are mostly of the fine gifts he sent from India while an Army Air Force to his mom(my grandmother)-- carved ivory elephants, intricate cork carving of tropical scenes. And of course fishing, chasing those crappies every spring.
