I knew Jason when he worked as a PC volunteer in Ukraine. Here he met Stephanie and often came to Mirgorod to visit her and we all spent time together. That was a really great time. I remember him to be a cheer leader in a summer camp - he was so energenic, full of life and joy. Everybody loved him. Then I was present at his training program on Civic Education and got a certificate of participance signed by him - it's still on the wall in my classroom. I can't believe he isn't among us on this Christmas Eve... My deepest condolecense to all Jason's family and Stephanie, they were such a nice couple...

Dear family of Jason,
I was deeply shocked to have recently heard of Jason's death. During my 9 months in Abuja he was always the most friendly and welcoming person anyone, let alone someone starting anew in a different country like myself, could have wished to meet.
Although I moved on from Abuja in May, Jason was the kind of person who I would always have remembered throughout my life, and now after his passing he is someone who I shall never forget.
I am very sorry for your loss.

Heddy,
I just learned of Jason's death yesterday. It is very hard to understand why our children go to heaven before us. Working with you all those years ago, I remember how proudly you spoke of Jason, Gary as well. My heart goes out to you and I am very sorry for your family's loss.
Take comfort in your memories of the fine, outstanding young man that you raised.

God bless the family of Jason Campbell. When I first met Jason about 2 years ago he had a smile and was very devoted to the cause. His spirit and fight to do what's right was contagious. When Jason had an assignment for me I would do it willingly because of his honesty and trustworthiness. May you have all the great memories of your loved one and his legacy. God bless and keep you always in his care and Jason's fiance'

I also am reeling with shock at Mr. Campbell's untimely passing. I just saw him in the airport in Lagos on the way to Abuja a few weeks ago and continue to be overwhelmed by his professional, effective commitment to democracy and its necessary element the labor movement as well as his broad intellectual range and tolerance. We have lost a valuable human being who I only wished I had a greater and longer time to know.

I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to Stephanie and the family of Jason. I had the great honor of working with him as his lead in the Kaiser Division of our Union. Always cheerful and optimistic, always putting in positive perspective the importance of the labor struggle we are in, and always available with advice patiently expressed, he was an asset to NUHW and can never be replaced.
Loyalty to the cause and absolute integrity were characteristics that complimented his modesty and his brilliance. I will miss him. He is a great loss to me and to all the work we have to do.

I would like to extend my deepest condolences to Jason's family. I was not as lucky to work a long time with him. But the time I was able to interact with him, I sense a deeper sense of humanitarian qualities that I have not found in such a long time. I truly believe that he touched many lives in a positive way. I feel honored to have met him and sad for such loss.

I am really shocked and can't believe Jason is not among us any more... I remember him as a cheerful and so full of life and enthusiastic young man when he served as a PCV in Ukraine. Last time I saw him when he came to Ukraine in summer 2005 to work on his case study for Harvard University "The role of negotiations in conflict resolution", taking our Ukrainian Orange Revolution as an example. He was so dedicated and so commited to the idea of democracy, peace and leadership...
My deepest and most sincere condolences to my dearest Stephanie and Jason's family.

The world was a much better place with Jason in it. He showed compassion and kindness to all. When he walked into a room he lit it up with his smile! He was never too busy to answer a question regarding union business. He will be dearly missed.

How years pass, before you know it our children are out in the world .What a world for Jason. He was our son,Tony's friend, grade school through high school. Tony would comment how hard working Jason was and he always did his best. It sounds like he did that through is live. We will always miss him and that wonderful smile. May God bless Jason's family and Stephanie

Our recent memories of Jason are of our work together at NUHW when he returned from Africa to work on the Kaiser campaign. We remember the incredible dedication he had and the commitment he made to the members that he would return to help them win their election. He kept his word. The admiration and respect that he had from the Kaiser professional members was unparalleled. Jason was a wonderful person to work with...always striving for excellence, a great team player, and fun. His love for Stephanie was apparent—and he talked often about
how they were figuring out their lives together. Our heart goes out to Stephanie and Jason's family. He will be missed by those of us who stood with him in his fight for justice and called him our friend.

I had the good fortune to be a co-worker of Jason's for two years. During that period the only one I talked to more than him was my wife. He inspired me with his commitment, awareness, and democratic instincts. Jason was fun to work with and always listened (patiently)to my stories about what happened previously. When we disagreed he had a tactful way of asking questions to get me to consider his perspective. My heart goes out to Stephanie and the Campbells. Jason will live on in our memories and no doubt continue to inspire us.

Just before hearing of Jason's death I happened to come across a box of photos from our last day of 9th grade at Jackson, finding a picture of a group of us in gym class, including Jason. I found myself wondering how everyone was doing and looking forward to the CPHS 94 reunion in a couple of years to find out. I am sad that my wonders were answered upon learning of Jason's death as I found out just how much he accomplished in this short life. Jason - you are an inspiration to all who knew you, rest in peace my friend.

Jason was one of the best examples of a wonderful human being. He truly cared about people, about their welfare, about their present and their future.
He was so smart and yet so patient; such a rare combination. We lost a great leader. I'm honored to have known Jason and will never forget him.
My prayers are with Mom and Dad Campbell, Stephanie, family members and friends.
Life is incredibly fragile. Live it as fully as Jason did and make the world a better place. God bless,

Jason's life was as full of purpose and love as people like M.L. King, Ghandi, JFK, etc. He was one of a kind. He taught me to walk taller, live bigger and trust in my intelligence. He told me that I also changed him in positive ways. His picture is above my desk to remind me not to give up on NUHW and to live a life full of purpose and love. Thank you Jason, for your friendship and love. No one can ever replace you at NUHW or in my heart. Love, Jan

Ten years tonight, I was getting ready to fly to Oklahoma to work to defeat a "right to work" (anti-union) initiative. We lost, but it was one of the happiest moments of my adult life because I was on a great team that has remained friends and we were lucky enough to have Jason as out leader. What a fun friend, as well as accomplished organizer. I was sad when the campaign ended in late Spet '01, but stayed in touch with Jason and saw him several times through '05. Last year I worked in L.A. on a union campaign and was lucky enough to hang out with Jason a few times and spent Independence Day with him and Stephanie. Jason and I e-mailed back and forth on Thurs. Aug 4th.
I'm still, like all of you, I'm sure, shocked, and will always feel the loss of a friend I looked forward to seeing down the trail.
When I think of that glorious time in OK, I think of the line from the end of the movie The Beach; "And me, I still believe in paradise. But now at least I know it's not some place you can look for, 'cause it's not where you go. It's how you feel for a moment in your life when you're a part of something, and if you find that moment... it lasts forever..."

As a classmate of Jason you can not forget his spirit, happiness and all around wonderful personality. His eyes would lite up a room. Jason was a person that was so very kind and could see a goal and set out for it. I remember him telling me he was going into the peace core once we were done with School... WOW, too know at 18 what he wanted to be and change in the world, and now to see what jason has done. He was a wonderful person and will be missed. God Bless his family and dear friends.

Jason always had a bright smile on his face, no matter where we were. I remember eating tater-tot hotdish at confirmation class with Pastor Hoff as he and Bryan sat next to each other being 'themselves' :) As well as sharing classes at CPHS. He left fingerprints throughout the world...which is truly amazing...as well as fingerprints on our hearts. As I reflect on the situation, I smile with tears in my eyes and feel blessed to have known Jason and to have called him a friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, Stephanie and to all the lives he has touched...we will never be the same. Each day is a gift.
