Maggie Moulton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 11, 2009.
Moulton, Maggie 91, Marion Skowlund Moulton died peacefully Monday, October 5, 2009 surrounded by loving friends at Regent's Hospital, St. Paul. Maggie was born in Marinette, Wisconsin in 1918. She received her bachelor's degree in 1939 from the University of Wisconsin, and later in life her Masters degrees in both Education and Fine Arts from the University of Minnesota. She was a member of the American Red Cross during WWII and was dispatched to Europe. It was there in Soisonne, France that she met her future husband Robert "Bob" Moulton who was serving in the U.S. Army at the time. She was a resident of Prospect Park, Minneapolis for 55 years. Maggie and Bob were lively and spirited members of the neighborhood. She was also an active, enthusiastic member of the University of Minnesota Theater Arts and Dance communities and the greater Arts community of the Twin Cities. Later in life after many years of supporting others in their artistic talents, Maggie discovered her own creative gift as a watercolorist. She became an accomplished artist in her own right. Maggie will be remembered as a thoughtful, kind and caring friend to many. She is survived by her son, Charles Moulton, choreographer, of Oakland, California, Miranda Marland, acupuncturist, of Falmouth, Maine and her granddaughter, Marika Marland, nurse practitioner of Yarmouth, Maine. Maggie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert D. Moulton. The family wants to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Eaglecrest Common, Presbyterian Home and Regent's Hospital for their care and support of Maggie and her family. A memorial service will be held at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 2136 Carter Ave., St. Paul, MN on Saturday Oct. 17 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maggie's name can be made to the Robert Moulton Theater Arts Scholarship Fund, University of Minnesota Foundation, 200 Oak Street, Minneapolis, MN 55445.

My Dear Maggie. You will be so missed. Robert was my favorite Professor and Advisor. Many times we students were in your warm and artistic home to share in relevant conversation with you two.
My condolences to Charlie and Miranda who made you so proud over the years.
