My wife Leila and I remember Bob Hackenberg with great fondness. He and his wife Mary entertained us in their home frequently. They strongly supported us in our ministry. Pastor Wendell Grout and Leila

Dan,
Kim and I were very saddened to hear of your loss. As you were at my father's funeral last year about this time, we truly wished we could have been there for your fathers. You have an awesome family so together with their strength and support and I'm sure all the wonderful memories of your dad, they will help you and your family through this difficult time.
Our deepest sympathies to you and your family.

Dan and Deb...As you know, your Mom and Dad were some of our dearest friends. They were strong supporters of our ministry at Lake Harriet and their home was always open to us. You are in our prayers....Pastor and Mrs. Wendell Grout

Mr. H. you have left a wonderful legacy for your family....with the love you had for your LORD. Sir, you 'finished well' and now you are with your LORD and family members that proceeded you. Enjoy your new home in Heaven! You can really soar now!

Dear Debbie, Dan, and Families, You have my sympathy for the huge loss of your Dad. Bob fulfills most accurately, my image of an individual, in Tom Brokaw's "The Greatest Generation". He is one of my heroes. His uniquely enjoyably company, came shining through while playing a game of Horse Shoes during a recent picnic at Beckie and Larry's home.
Sincerely, John Mahon

Debbie, Doug and family. I didn't know your Dad except for the times he came into the store to visit you.But through you, I felt the love of your family and for each other. The faith he instilled shines through you every day and I cherish our shared "faith talks" May our Lord bless and keep you as you remember his life and your memories as a family.

Deb and Dan,
Our first visit to Lake Harriet was followed by lunch with your mom and dad and the Repstads. We remember well our times in Boca with them and Bob and Jean and Pastor Grout and wife. It is one of those blessings in life that Jo and I could call Bob and Mary friends. Jo still makes your mom's special chocolate chip cookies.
I am including a piece written by Vince Havner that the family will find comforting.
" Death can hide but not divide
She is but on Christ's other side
She with Christ and Christ with me
United still in Christ are we."

For one very special summer as a youth intern at Colony Park Baptist Church, Bob and his dear wife, Mary, were my hosts. Graciously housing me for the three-month season, they provided their college-age guest with a lot more than a bed, warm meals, and those amazing cookies. A friendship grew that first encouraged me in the summer's work (we had a lot of fun!!)and then helped launch me into a career of ministry that would eventually lead me back to Camp Lebanon. My admiration for Bob was instantaneous. He was godly, generous, affirming, and a man of integrity through and through. I thank the Lord for that special summer we shared together and for the friendship that continued through the years! One especially sweet memory was the blessing of their hosting our wedding at Colony Park. They welcomed Lisa like a daughter and made us feel like royalty. May the God they served so faithfully through the years be honored in the celebration of this great man's life.
