Petersen, Shirley M. (Prudlow) age 86. Preceded in death by husband, Don; and son, Greg. Survived by daughter, Linda; son, Scott (Mara); special granddaughter, Tina; sister-in-law and great friend, Gen; and a wide circle of friends and family. Shirley was a great wife, mother, grandmother, and was an extraordinary gardener. Her passion for gardening led her to be the first ever greenhouse chair at the Arneson Acres Park in Edina, and she held that position for thirty years. She spent thousands of hours with hundreds of friends in that greenhouse, producing the flowers for all the City gardens in Edina. Shirley was also one of the founders of the Annual Plant Sale currently being held in Arneson Acres. The first one was in her garage over thirty years ago. Proceeds from the sale have kept the greenhouse running and paid for the gazebo, fountain and gardens that now grace the park. Her efforts won her many accolades over the years, including a Mayor's Award for outstanding volunteerism. Her own gardens were stunning, and several times featured on the Edina Garden Tour. No aches or pains could keep her from working in her garden every day. Shirley will be missed by friends, family and serious gardeners everywhere. Private interment Dawn Valley Memorial Gardens. Service Monday 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour before at: www.Washburn-McReavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996 West 50th St. & Hwy 100
