I am Maritsas mom and know she thought highly of your son. I cannot fathom getting out of bed in the morning, putting one foot in front of the other after losing a child, but my thoughts are with you. Dear Colleen, Brig, Troy, and Courtney,
Looking back to days past when I practically lived at your St. Louis Park home next to Justad Park makes me smile. It's no wonder Brig used to say, "I'm putting you down as a deduction on my taxes." I have such fond memories of Tyler as a toddler running around with his gorgeous wavy brown hair and adorable big smile, as a happy youth always following Troy or Court or riding his bike with a smile on his face, and as a young man again remembering him with his genuine smile. He always seemed to be at ease and wearing a smile.
I have been hoping the right words would come to me but they haven't. So, I'm going to steal from someone who wrote this beautiful poem because Tyler will always be with us and always remembered.
"Some people come into our lives
and quickly go. Some stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never ever the same."
Seeing Tyler's friends both old and new and loved ones at his funeral, it was obvious what a huge impact he had on so many people in such a short time here on earth. I hope you all find comfort in knowing how much he was loved and how his smile warmed many hearts along the way.
We will miss him but always keep him in our hearts.

I too, have been struggling what to say to you. Daryl and I have a lot of the same thoughts. I didn't know he was going to write in here. I will always remember the gentle side of Tyler. When he brought Grandma and Grandpa a memorial gift the first Christmas after Gary died. I don't know of many 18 year olds that would think of something so kind. The world will be different without Tyler. He always had a warm hug for me and I am sure everyone else who crossed his path. We were so blessed to have known and loved little Tyler. Steve and Colleen, It has been over 2 weeks since Tyler passed away and I still don't know what to say to you. Does time heal. 2 weeks sure hasn't. Will 2 years. Maybe alittle. We worry about our children every day. Hoping they make the right decisions. I guess now Tyler gets to look down and worry about you two, hoping you make the right decisions and hoping your love for each other grows even stronger. When I think of Tyler I think of a smile. After reading and talking to alot of people who knew Tyler, they always seemed to say something about laughing and smiling. The last time I talked to Tyler was on the phone. He wanted to get some business cards
(cheap) for this new adventure him and a few buddies were getting into.
He asked me if I was going to be at the shop when he came. I told him probably not, unless he was coming at 5 in the morning. He said with a giggle " Uncle Daryl your avoiding me like you owe me money or something" Well he did pick up his business cards and I regret not seeing him when he did. And for the record, I didn't owe him any money.

I will never forget the times I shared with Tyler when we were kids - at Papa's cabin, when the Brengman's babysat me, and when we used to play Donkey Kong (to this day it is still my favorite video game, thanks to him!) I will miss seeing his smiling face at holidays and family functions, but I know there will be many stories to share and smiles to be had in his memory.

My dearest brother - so many memories I have of us growing up and having tons of fun at places like Papa's cabin, the park behind our house, the basement in our old house,(and not to mention all those awesome Christmas mornings). I had the honor of working with Tyler for a few months at Northland Binder this past summer. I adored him for the short time he was there.
He was funny, polite and very wise for his years. He had something very special about him. He was a person that whoever met him liked him instantly. No words that I can say will ever express how I feel, but I just wanted to let you know that my tears are with you.

What a lovely young man who brightened many days for others. Words cannot describe a loss such as this - and an apology cannot undo what is done. For what it's worth, your son made my high school experience just a little bit better and he will be missed but never forgotten. Such a wonderful soul.

I just can't get over the fact that he is gone. I had so many memories throughout my life of him since fourth grade. Even though I had not been in contact with him in the past couple of years, I always thought about him. He was a great guy, always knew how to keep the fun going; his smile, his energy.
