Dear Steve and Colleen,
Thirteen years have passed, and still my heart breaks for your family's losses in those years. Tyler was a bright light in a life too brief for all who knew him! I think about you two and Colleen, of course, and pray that you still feel the love and support from all of us. Time and distance may separate us, but my sincere love goes out to you always!

To Steve, Colleen, and Courtney:
Many years have passed, yet I so clearly remember the anguish we felt at the tragic loss of your beloved Tyler. The grief doubled and tripled with the passing of Josie and then Troy, one of the dearest young men our family knew. I don't know how your life is right now, but I pray that you feel the love of everyone who knew you and your family. I know you remain in my heart and prayers. God bless you!

I am Maritsas mom and know she thought highly of your son. I cannot fathom getting out of bed in the morning, putting one foot in front of the other after losing a child, but my thoughts are with you. Reading so many sentiments from old neighbors I remember fondly makes me smile at the realization of how lucky we were to be part of a community family. Take comfort in that if you can. Makes me want to move back. God Bless You!

Dear Colleen, Brig, Troy, and Courtney,
Looking back to days past when I practically lived at your St. Louis Park home next to Justad Park makes me smile. It's no wonder Brig used to say, "I'm putting you down as a deduction on my taxes." I have such fond memories of Tyler as a toddler running around with his gorgeous wavy brown hair and adorable big smile, as a happy youth always following Troy or Court or riding his bike with a smile on his face, and as a young man again remembering him with his genuine smile. He always seemed to be at ease and wearing a smile.
I have been hoping the right words would come to me but they haven't. So, I'm going to steal from someone who wrote this beautiful poem because Tyler will always be with us and always remembered.
"Some people come into our lives
and quickly go. Some stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never ever the same."
Seeing Tyler's friends both old and new and loved ones at his funeral, it was obvious what a huge impact he had on so many people in such a short time here on earth. I hope you all find comfort in knowing how much he was loved and how his smile warmed many hearts along the way.
We will miss him but always keep him in our hearts.
Love,
Heidi (and family)

Steve, Colleen, Troy, Court & Simon- We are all so very sorry for your loss. I was lucky to spend some of my childhood and holidays with Tyler. Playing in the park, playing Nintendo in the basement for hours, and biking over to Mimi & Gramps for treats are some of my great memories with Ty, Courtney & Troy. As many have said, Tyler was such a sweet man, I agree and will never forget that smile of his. I promise to keep praying for you all. Much love, Emily (Brengman)Heger & family

Dear Colleen, Steve, Troy, Courtney and Simon,

Our hearts go out to you all in this sudden loss of your wonderful son and brother. We will always remember Tyler for his many wonderful qualities and talents. He was a kind, loving and caring young man. Tyler loved you all so very much. Troy, you were a very special borther to Tyler and we know you are going to miss him so very much. Courtney, Tyler was your "baby brother" who thought the world of you and Simon and we know you both loved him so very much. Colleen, Tyler looked so proud when he and Troy were walking you down the aisle at Courtney and Simon's wedding. Colleen and Steve, you are caring, loving parents and you blessed Tryler with 23 special years with your loving family. May the special loved ones that are with him now, Gramps, Mimi, Sharon and Mary Ann, give him comfort and love. May the countless wonderful memories you have of your precious Tyler give you added comfort and peace at this time. Tyler will always be dear to us and in our hearts.

Love,

Brian and Sandy O'Rourke

Dear Steve and Colleen, Troy, Courtney and Simon,
I too, have been struggling what to say to you. Daryl and I have a lot of the same thoughts. I didn't know he was going to write in here. I will always remember the gentle side of Tyler. When he brought Grandma and Grandpa a memorial gift the first Christmas after Gary died. I don't know of many 18 year olds that would think of something so kind. The world will be different without Tyler. He always had a warm hug for me and I am sure everyone else who crossed his path. We were so blessed to have known and loved little Tyler. We reach out to your family with love and care. We will always be there for you. I think of Tyler at peace, watching over all of us. God bless you all. Love, Donna

Steve and Colleen, It has been over 2 weeks since Tyler passed away and I still don't know what to say to you. Does time heal. 2 weeks sure hasn't. Will 2 years. Maybe alittle. We worry about our children every day. Hoping they make the right decisions. I guess now Tyler gets to look down and worry about you two, hoping you make the right decisions and hoping your love for each other grows even stronger. When I think of Tyler I think of a smile. After reading and talking to alot of people who knew Tyler, they always seemed to say something about laughing and smiling. The last time I talked to Tyler was on the phone. He wanted to get some business cards
(cheap) for this new adventure him and a few buddies were getting into.
He asked me if I was going to be at the shop when he came. I told him probably not, unless he was coming at 5 in the morning. He said with a giggle " Uncle Daryl your avoiding me like you owe me money or something" Well he did pick up his business cards and I regret not seeing him when he did. And for the record, I didn't owe him any money.
I'll miss you Tyler. Love Uncle Daryl. Steve And Colleen, Thank you for giving us Tyler. Love you both. Daryl

I will never forget the times I shared with Tyler when we were kids - at Papa's cabin, when the Brengman's babysat me, and when we used to play Donkey Kong (to this day it is still my favorite video game, thanks to him!) I will miss seeing his smiling face at holidays and family functions, but I know there will be many stories to share and smiles to be had in his memory.

My dearest brother - so many memories I have of us growing up and having tons of fun at places like Papa's cabin, the park behind our house, the basement in our old house,(and not to mention all those awesome Christmas mornings). You were a wonderful, fun and sometimes stubburn brother, but you were the only one I'll ever have, and the only brother I'd wish to have. I will NEVER forget you Tyler, thanks for all the laughs! You had a hugh impact on many lives Bro, and I was, and still am, very proud to be your brother. I love you.

To the Brengman Family -
I feel like I have been in some way part of your family for the last ten or more years. On again and off again passing through with a hello or basketball game. Tyler was always one of my favorites. He always made me laugh (and others) and he always will make us smile forever. I am very saddened by this news, as are many others. My thoughts are with you through this time of grieving. I loved Tyler like my own little brother. He will be missed. God Bless the family.

Tyler was a kind hearted and warm person, people were drawn to his luminous and outgoing personality. I'll remember him best for his good sportsmenship and competitive edge in sports(in my experience baseball). It was emotionally painfull to here the news, my condolences to family and friends closes to him. I can only imagine how you feel..." Tyler I'll miss your physical presence but your spirit lives on in all the ones you've touched, I understand."

Dear Colleen, Steve, Troy, Courtney and Pat O'Rourke,
I had the honor of working with Tyler for a few months at Northland Binder this past summer. I adored him for the short time he was there.
He was funny, polite and very wise for his years. He had something very special about him. He was a person that whoever met him liked him instantly. No words that I can say will ever express how I feel, but I just wanted to let you know that my tears are with you.
To Courtney and Troy,
Embrace each other and be close.
Sometimes without meaning to, the siblings can be the "forgotten mourners" I lost 2 younger brothers years ago and still miss them, but they will always be a part of me as Tyler will be a part of you.
To Pat O'Rourke,
I believe after reading what I have in Tyler's guest book that you are the person (I am sorry if I am wrong) that was one of my dad's best friends. His name was Craig Mills. He died 3 years ago now, and I know he is also crying for your loss, but may be telling one of his jokes to not only my brothers, but to Tyler also and they are laughing their you know whats off!
May God bless your family.

I am so deeply sorry for this unexpected loss. Tyler was a great friend to me, and so many others. His affable personality made it hard for anybody not to like him. My struggles in school brought me closer to Tyler and his group of friends. Whether it was hanging out with him at DK's, playing basketball at the rec, or the occasional party, Tyler was always one of the best people to be around... and never sadder than when I heard this news. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.

What a lovely young man who brightened many days for others. Words cannot describe a loss such as this - and an apology cannot undo what is done. For what it's worth, your son made my high school experience just a little bit better and he will be missed but never forgotten. Such a wonderful soul.
