my earliest memory of my cousin jimmy: he carried with him (always) his favorite toys. A huge brown paper grocery bag of the small tootsie toy cars, (I'm sure his mother, my aunt hazel had to pick them up many times & there were hundreds!) out of these he would allow me (3-4 yrs old) the wonderful privilege of choosing 5 cars to play with of which I could keep 2! I still have them somewhere because I'm a saver. I did not get to see jimmy again (we are on the west coast) until I was seventeen and then again when I was fifty wonderful visits both, fortunately I still have the photo's. To my cousins many of whom I have never met I "ACHE" with you, but remember who he is with & who met him when he arrived JIMMIY IS IN GOOD COMPANY and we will all see him again...and each other one fine day.

I had the honor of meeting James on a Twins Fan in the Stands tour. He was such a sweet man and WOW what a Twins fan! James made a lasting impression on me. I even have a picture of the 2 of us from that trip that I'll treasure

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Jimmy Nisser. I have lived across the street from Jimmy for the past 24 years. He was a model neighbor, always took pride in his home and yard, was always there to help his neighbors if they needed it, and always had a kind word to say and a cheerful smile on his face. I will truly miss seeing and talking to him and having him is my neighbor.

I grew up on Kipling Av a few houses south of Jimmy. I haven't seen him for years, but remember him well. Jimmy had a big heart and a kind soul. The neibhorhood had, like many in the 50's & 60's, many kids who played together all day long. Jimmy was one of us and a good friend. The world was a better place because of him.

I worked at the Minikahda Club for the summer of 2008. I mainly worked the afternoon/evening shifts. Everyday I waved at Jimmy while he rode past and he waved back. Waving always along with a bright smile.
I knew him all my life. I will always remember Saturday Nights at Elko Speedway with Jimmy, my dad (Jim Bennek), and my older sister (Sarah). Also all the New Year's Eve get togethers held at my house will always be remembered. Jimmy will always be held close to my heart.

For many years in the 60's and 70's, I bowled on the same team with Jim's Mother, Hazel. Each year, Hazel had a Christmas party for the team at her home on Kipling. I remember Jim cheerfully helping his Mother serving the meal, clearing the table and washing the dishes. Tonight watching television I saw the report of the tragic accident that took Jim's life.
My sincere condolences to the family. Ruth Spolar

My sincere sorrow Carol and your family on the tragic loss of your brother!! I had heard about it via the news on the radio minutes before his Memorial service. God Bless you all and all of Jim's nieces & nephews and friends!! What a truly Godly man!! ALWAYS a smile on his face, even when I saw him riding his bike! You all were very special in our family's lives! When my Mother was alive, I KNOW that it was pure joy when she would pick him up for church, etc.!!!! And, I was honored to be the alcolyte in Nancy & Cal's wedding, and still remember it!
God be with you all always!
(Carol, my cell is 952-454-7013).
LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!

While I never had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy Nisser, those who did have painted a wonderful picture of a kind, caring and compassionate man who deserved a better fate than he received last week. All of us at the Minnesota Twins are saddened that one of our team's great fans is no longer with us. The world needs more people like Jimmy Nisser.

Jim Nisser was the most decent, kind, giving human being I have ever known. Jim was my friend. I have known Jim my entire life. We grew up together, as neighbors, on Kipling Avenue in St. Louis Park. I have fond childhood memories of Jim and I spending time outdoors, riding bikes, and playing with our “migi’ cars. After moving out west, I made it a point to see Jim every time I returned to Minnesota for a visit. Jim had become the man of the Kipling Avenue neighborhood. He shoveled snow off of the driveways and sidewalks of the elderly people. He did heavy chores for my aging mother. Jim had a big, kind heart. He never expected anything in return for his hard physical labor. His joy came from giving to others.
I clearly remember my last visit with Jim. We caught up on old times. We joked, we laughed. We had fun. It was a grand reunion. It is even more special now, because Jim has moved on. From the beginning there was a very special place reserved in Heaven for Jim Nisser. He is now there.

I met Jim many years ago at the ARC Toppers dances. If he was available, he was at the dances on Friday nights. We danced together for 25 years and in all those years, he was never without his smile, charm and quick wit.
I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss.
It was an honor to know him and to celebrate his life at the memorial service.
Please accept my condolences and know that my prayers are with the family and friends he has left behind.

I am so sorry to hear of the tragic loss of such a beautiful human being. I knew Hazel & Jimmy from Target pharmacy years ago. I have never forgotten him & often since have seen him biking around the neighborhood, always with a smile for everyone. His gentle spirit certainly touched me and every other person who took the time to appreciate his tenderness. You did not know Jim if seeing him did not make you smile from ear to ear...a lasting smile. Thank you Lord, for letting him touch my life, though briefly. I will miss you Jimmy!
God bless you,

Uncle Jim will be sorely missed. I know that every life he touched came away with something good. I hope that I can teach my children how to be as pure an individual as Jim was. He stood for what was right and good and peaceful. I am proud to say that I am part of his family.

I was so blessed to have such a wonderful and kind uncle. If I can be a fraction of the person that Jim was, that will be an accomplishment to be proud of. Jim will be missed, he touched so many hearts.

I had the good fortune to work with Jimmy at the Minikahda Club throughout the 1990's. I have some very fond memories of attending Twins games with Jimmy (the number one Twins fan) "Having some Leinies". To an always kind, gentle and unique individual, Jimmy you will not be forgotten. To all of Jimmy's family and friends my thoughts are with you in this time of sorrow.

We are so sorry for your loss. Jimmy was one of the nicest, most gentle souls we ever had the pleasure to meet. Eric enjoyed his time with Jim at Minnekahda. He will be missed by all of us that knew him.

I worked with Jimmy at the Minikahda Club for several years in the early 1980s when I was a young woman and new mother. My husband, Michael, and I lived across the lake and I, like Jimmy rode my bike to and from the club. Although we had not been in touch over the years, I have always held him in my heart. To Jimmy's friends and family, I am sorry for your loss and sorry for the loss of a good, gentle, and kind man in our community and our world.

I worked with Jim at Minikahda 40 years ago. Even played golf with him a few times on employee days. He was such a happy and positive person and I'll bet he never changed.
He touched so many people - I was just one. My condololences to Jim's family. I've met many people in my life but none that compare to Jim.
He was, and always will be, one special person.

I believe there are certain people in this world who bring the Lord’s blessings to our lives in uniquely transparent and marvelous ways. Jimmy was one of those people. Guileless, honest, hard working, and cheerful, he brought a taste of the gospel wherever he went. If there was anyone these words from Colossians fit, it was Jimmy:
(Col 3:12-14) As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
I first knew Jim many years ago when I was a member of Wooddale as a youth. Although he was a few years older than I, it seems like he was always there in his own exceptional way. When my brother, Tom, called with the news of his tragic loss, I was truly saddened. He is irreplaceable.
His spirit will live as an inspiration in many of us until we too are called to the everlasting banquet.
We now commend him to a loving Father, and we go upon our own pathways knowing God has blessed us through this most genuine man named James Nisser.
