Dear Kennedy Family,
Though I don't know any of you personally, Dave was my dad's (John Hafner) first cousin. My dad was so delighted to have a couple of visits from him just prior his death in 2004. He always spoke so highly of Dave and I know he wishes he could have spent more time with him and your family. Blessings to all of you during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Cathy Hafner Streit

Kennedy Family-
I worked as an Administrative Assistant for Kennedy & Graven about 9 years ago. I remember David Kennedy as a very quiet but extremely intelligent man.
May memories of your husband, father and friend comfort you in your time of sorrow.
With deepest sympathy,

Dave the frugal seemed to like a good deal, and I have to think he got full value for his years with us. His accomplishments are many, but he never seemed to move very fast, and you'd certainly never know it by talking with him.
I was a rookie lawyer in the LeFevere, Lefler firm when I met Dave there in 1977. Over the next five years, I learned that Dave was loyal, humble, humane, literate, witty, mischievous (a real Irish imp), way smart, a gifted writer, frustrated we haven't built a fairer world (small "d" democrat to the bone), warmly friendly, encouraging, utterly trustworthy and much more. He loved to see people succeed even more than he cared about his own accomplishments.
At the end of Dave's retirement party last September I went up to him. When he saw me he smiled broadly and clutched my forearm. He wouldn't let go. If he ever felt me disloyal for jumping ship to another law firm it didn't matter now. It's a memory of Dave's fellow-feeling I won't forget.
My sympathies to Mitzi and family, and to his many friends and colleagues. I knew him only briefly but he still leaves me with a full, round picture of one, swell guy.

Mitzi and family, our friends at Kennedy Graven -
Dave's infectious smile, his wit, and his impeccable manners, even when others of us had bad days, are his legacy to me.

Dear Jane,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.
Although I did not know your father, he must have been a great man considering he raised such a wonderful daughter. The lost of a parent is truly one of lifes most difficult things to cope with. Please keep in mind I am here to support you. May God Bless you and your family...

Mitzi,
I'm so sorry to hear of David's death. He was such a wonderful gentleman and I'll miss him very much. John and I enjoyed having you at the Marina watching you and your family have such a good time on the river. I also enjoyed having a cup of coffee with him at Roberta's coffee shop to swap stories about our time in the Legislature. Dave will be missed so much. You and he were a wonderful team. God Bless You.

Dear Mimi and family,
I am so sad to hear of your dad's passing. I remember how kind and tolerant he was of me back on Quinn Av. S. as I nudged myself into your family, how you & I would climb your willow tree as he relaxed in the lawn chair after work. I thought he was pure genius for putting grape jelly in 1/2 an orange on top of a pole to attract colorful Baltimore Orioles (your mother's recipe). He'd invite the neighborhood kids to climb in the station wagon and take us to Dairy Queen in the summer for a Mister Misty push up. What a nice guy! May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

What a great man. During the few short years I had the chance to know Dave before his retirement last year from Kennedy & Graven, I greatly admired his humility and selflessness--he always was more interested in learning about others than talking about his many impressive achievements. I will miss him.

My thoughts and prayers to David's family, friends and colleagues. I first met David as a first-year law clerk at LeFevere, Lefler, Kennedy, O'Brien & Drawz. I remember what a thrill it was to work on projects for David, not only because his name was on the door, but also because he was smart and always kind -- even to a young law student who didn't know much of anything.

I will remember Dave wearing his Navy hat, driving his golf cart down Judd Street in Marine. Always friendly and very kind. He will be greatly missed in Marine. My prayers go out to Dave's wife and family.
