Dear Bill, Lori, and Ashley(Owen):
I don't know if you still look at this site and see the posts but I ran into Lori last night at Walgreens in Plymouth. I was able to give her a hug and talk for a brief minute which was very nice but I know difficult for Lori. I just wanted to remind all of you that I am still praying for you and I am sure there are thousands more just like me out there.
Stay strong, give your pain to God as he will help you get through this and find some sort of peace.
God Bless

Dear Prairie Family,
Although I did not know Bryan I know how proud Bill was of both of his sons back in the days we worked together at AmeriData. I cannot imagine the pain of losing such a wonderful son who was also a young husband and father. My heart aches for all of you. I just learned of Bryan's passing today and just want you to know I am so very sorry for your loss. For whatever small measure of comfort it is worth, I am enclosing my favorite poem written by an unknown author. God Bless,
HOPI PRAYER
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on the ripened grain.
I am the gentle Autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry:
I am not there,
I did not die.

Prairie Family,
As part of the Cisco family, I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss. The Minnesota team was kind of enough to share this site with me and it is so special to see how many people were touched by Bryan and how special he is to all. Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer.

Dear Prairie Family,
I was recently told of the news of Bryan and was deeply saddened. My initial thoughts where flashbacks to high school and my memorable experiences with Bryan in track and in weightlifting. He always brought smiles to the teams face, and I'm sure his memory will continue to do the same to his family. I hope you find comfort during this extremly difficult time.

Things often happen that are beyond our human ability to understand and to explain. I think this is especially true when the old see the young die. Our hearts and minds find it unnatural, unfair and too painful to accept. It’s most painful to parents when a child dies before them. A chorus of voices will remind us it’s not supposed to happen that way.
Yet we know it does happen. No matter how much any of us who knew Bryan Prairie search for an explanation as to why he died so young, none will be good enough.
What then? I will cope with his loss because it’s the best I can muster when faced with his inexplicable death. Remembering Bryan who died saving his fellow coworker on September 3 will be my way.
I will think of Bryan whenever I see his brother Bobby because the two of them not only share a genetic bond, but also a genuine love for each other. I will think of Bryan whenever I see Bill and Lori because the love they hold for him and Bobby is so evident. I will think of Bryan whenever the hunting and fishing seasons begin because he enjoyed those outdoor sports so much. I will think of Bryan whenever I see his wife Ashley and their son Owen because they are his legacy.
My wife JoAnn and I both pray that the love and support of their friends, family and faith will help Ashley, Bill, Lori, Bobby and Rachel find their own way to cope with Bryan’s death. May their love for each other help to ease the pain.

I had hopes of meeting Bryan (and others) who were/are friends of my grandson, Matt E. at Augustana College. Thank you, all who wrote here about Bryan; sadly, that is all I will know of him. His life, Matt's and that of their friends teaches me that the Next Generation is not in the proverbial Handbasket. I still look forward to meeting Owen and his mother someday.

Ashley and Owen,
I send my deepest sympathies to you and your family during this trying time in your lives; but most of all I wanted to leave you with a few of my memories of Bryan during nursing at Augie.
The day Bryan walked into class and Pam had everyone congratulate him on his new marriage. There was no wiping that smile off of his face!
At lunch during clinical one day, he was sitting across from me at the table and spilled his entire orange soda into my lap. All anybody could do was laugh because he was SO embarrassed and wasn't sure what he should do. In the end, it quickly dried and wasn't visible by the time we went back to the floor.
The days in OB class when Vickie would ask him if what we were discussing was happening during your pregnancy. He would just smile and excitedly tell us. Then came the day when he was mysteriously missing from class and we all knew exactly where he must've been. Sure enough, the next time he came to class he was a new proud daddy.
Bryan was one of those guys who would talk to anybody and somehow they would end up laughing or leave with a smile.
You're in my thoughts and prayers,
~Bethany Jones

The Prairie Family,
My deepest condolences go out to your family. It breaks my heart to learn that such a great man like Bryan had to have his life taken so soon. I can still remember playing baseball with Bryan and having Bill coach us. I remember high jump practice with Bryan playing king of the pit and having him power lift me off of the pit to claim the victory (even though I out weighed him by 40 lbs). I was so happy for Bryan when I got to see him break the Augustana triple jump record in college and cheer him on while he flew down the runway. Bryan was always a great friend and person and he will be deeply missed.

Dear Buzz, Lori & Bob, Marlys, Bill & families,
I was so saddened when I heard about your loss and I'm heartbroken for Ashley, Owen and everyone that will miss Bryan so dearly.
The very first time I met Bryan as a little boy, I knew that there was something different about him. He was gifted child, a special person that stood out from the rest. As I read through the guest book these past few hours, I realized that everyone seemed to recognize this same wonderful thing about Bryan. There was something so unique about Bryan that we all hoped we could be more like him.
Bryan was fortunate to have incredible parents, a loving home and to have a supportive extended family that loved and encouraged him to be the best he could be and to be himself. Bryan remains fortunate because all of you are there to encourage and support his dreams for his family and in a way, he will be there with you.
Losing someone you love is the most painful part of living. Rely on your strong faith and loving family to help you find peace and comfort. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Craig

Dear Family of Bryan,
I learned today of the accident and tragedy from our school principal and was immediately stricken. I had the profound pleasure of teaching Bryan in a couple of English courses and have nothing but praise for Bryan. He was a delightful young man, warm and friendly and bright, and I have fond memories of class discussion, out-of-class discussion with Bryan that reaffirms why I teach. I am heartbroken and so sad to learn of his passing. He is remembered well by this teacher and I am so happy that he has a child to be remembered by. My wife, children, and I offer our prayers and understanding in this difficult time. May the Lord bless your family.

Dear Ashley, Owen and family,
I was so very sorry to hear about Bryan's tragic death last week.
I was honored to be Bryan's academic advisor and instructor in Pathophysiology and Adult Health Nursing at Augustana College. It seems like just yesterday, when he was a student in Patho and "eagerly looking forward to his wedding to you, his precious Ashley." As a class we celebrated your marriage to Bryan.
Throughout Bryan's junior and senior years we had many conversations about his future plans in nursing and his strong interest to provide health care for children. This spring Bryan was thrilled and felt so blessed to become a "proud father" to Owen.
Early this summer, I was so touched by your thoughtfulness when you stopped to visit me before you left Augustana. I was so delighted to meet you, Ashley, and also "hold Owen!"
Throughout he summer months I have had wonderful email conversations with Bryan. I especially appreciated the pictures he recently sent of the "three of you!"
Bryan was a very caring person and I will miss him very deeply. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during these very difficult hours and days.
Take care and blessings always,
Pam

So saddened to hear of your loss. The despair you must all feel at losing a son, a young husband and young father is unimaginable. I've been thinking of you and praying for you all weekend. He must have been a very special person for his role here on earth to be complete . . . that is the only sense in this.

So sorry. My deepest sympathy goes out your family as you endure this tragic loss. Fond memories can never be taken away and may the love of friends and family carry you thru this time of grief. Bill, the excitement you have when you talk about all your boys is an example for all of us how to love our children.

Dear Lori, Buzz, Ashley, Owen, Bob and family,
All day yesterday and through the night, my heart has been aching for all of you. It is hard to know what to say, and I know there are no words to help lessen the pain in your hearts.
Please know that I am so very sorry and deeply saddened by Bryan's passing. I am completely unable to comprehend the depth of your sadness and grief.
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy and know that you will be in my daily thoughts and prayers through the difficult days ahead. I pray that God will keep all of you close, and that you will find comfort and strength in knowing he is with you.
Although I had never met Bryan, I came to know him through Lori's many pictures and stories. He was a wonderful young man that I know was so loved and cherished by his family and all who knew him.
My wish for all of you through this journey is continued healing, continued faith, continued peace - and the knowledge that Bryan will always be watching over you, and he will live in your hearts forever!
