Phil was a classmate of mine at DU. I was actually attempting to notify Phil of a classmate of ours that passed away today. I didn´t know how to contact Phil so I "safaried" him and his name came up. I´m so sorry to hear of his passing so many years ago.
My favorite memory of Phil occurred shortly after my marriage to Georgia in 1964 (still married to her). Georgia´s folks owned a goat farm in southern Colorado (Segundo). We invited him down to spend a weekend on the farm. We rode together which gave us an opportunity to get to know each other better. Saturday morning we got up very early ( John, Modena, Georgia and I) to take a Jeep ride back in the wilderness to have breakfast. On the way to our destination we had to cross over a few cattle guards and through several cattle gates. At one gate my father-in-law asked Phil to get out and open a gate so we could pass through. Phil obliged and we passed through. We waited for some time on the down side of the gate only to discover the Phil closed the gate with him standing on the same side from which he opened it. It took only a split second to discover his mistake. He opened the gate again and stepped through and closed it. My father-in-law chuckled (he was somewhat ornery) and he and Phil got on famously after that. Phil opened the remaining gates correctly. We had a great fresh air breakfast that morning and finished a great weekend.
It´s unfortunate that Phil and I lost contact shortly afterward.
He was a good friend in college.
We had another friend at DU, jochim Diestal (sp). Who had an old Jaguar XE that we worked on every weekend just to keep it running.
If you know how to reach Jochim let me know.

His curiosity about everything, and his enthusiasm for figuring it all out, was contagious. His enthusiasm for table tennis, and good beer, will be missed. Phil, we love you

Phil and Laura were a perfect couple, with an
adventurous spirit for new adventures and travel.
Phil left us much too soon-
