Yocum, Paul Robert Beloved Father, Grandfather Great-Grandfather and Great-Great-Grandfather Paul was born 6-19-1917 and died at age 95 on 7-24-2012. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Fern. He is survived by daughter, Paula (Rod) Olson and son, Tony (RuthAnn) Yocum; 9 grandchildren: Tony V (Sara), Jon (Kristen), Tim (Shannon), Micki (Ahmed), Chris (John), Laurel, Pam, Eric (Sandra) and Thor. In addition, he had 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great- great-grandchildren. Memorial Service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, July 28th at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 2410 Stillwater Rd., Maplewood. Visitation will be at the church 3-7 PM Friday, July 27th and one hour prior to the service Saturday. Paul loved fishing, golfing, travel, bowling and card games especially cribbage. He served in the United Sates Navy during World War II. Paul founded Yocum Oil Company in 1959, now owned by three of his grandsons. He served as President of Minnesota Petroleum Marketer's Association. He was a board member of Premier Banks until his death. Paul served his church, Gethsemane Lutheran, as President, his community as councilman of Oakdale, and gave countless and generous contributions to charities and people in need. God gave Paul guidance and blessings throughout his life which he shared with all of his family and friends. Memorials are preferred to Gethsemane Faith Community. To the Yocum family. I am so sorry for your loss. I am also so sorry that I did not make it to the service. I was in the hospital. I have many wonderful childhood memories of Paul. Paul was my Grandmother's 1st cousin and they were very close. He even stood up for them at their wedding. My Grandmother always took me to see Paul's parents when I was little. I remember the Liberty bell that was in their yard. Which I think still remains in Paula's yard at this time. When I was older I worked at Premier Bank and Paul always stopped to talk to me. We did keep in touch through all the years. I am thankful that my children are friends with some of his Grandchildren. What a small world so many generations later. He was a wonderful man, and I will miss him.

Dear Paula, Tony and families...
What a blessing to have known your Mom, Dad, and both of you since 1955 when Dave first came to Gethsemane Lutheran Church and School and that friendship has continued to this very day. God is Good!

Fern and Paul had their priorities "right" in their "Christian walk" and because of that, their family, church and community have been blessed in many ways. Now your parents are together again and they have their reward....a glorious eternal life with Jesus in heaven. To God be the Glory!

The family of Norma Judkins Wheaton send condolences. The name of Yocum has long been part of our family memories. Minette and Tony and then Paul and Fern. Mom told stories of going to school with Paul from the first day to graduation and long beyond. Mom spoke of the reunions.

I'm a former teacher at Gethsemane, 1958-1964. I still remember the Yocum's very fondly, including an "accidental meeting" with Paul on a golf course in Mpls.about 4-5 years ago when golfing with "great oldtimers" of the area. Invited by brother-in-law Wally Iverson it was such a thrill to get to see Paul again over a burger and beer. What fun to hear him talk about how Tony and Paula continue to be "great kids" and how blessed he had been with a long, happy marriage and so many grandkids! His faith shone back in the '60's and it shone through that cloudy day by the golf course, too.
Blessed be the memory of Paul Yocum. Peace to the family even as you rejoice at his "victory in Jesus"!
