Mikelsons, Irmgarde age 98, of South Minneapolis, passed away Nov. 16, 2012. Preceded in death by husband Reinholds Mikelsons, and survived by nieces, Rasma and Dzidra and nephew, Janis in Latvia, and by stepson, Valdis; stepdaughter, Ilze; grandsons, Michael, Ralfs with wife Mary Lou, Ivars with wife Wendy, and by granddaughters, Lisa and Kristin with family, a great-grandson, Nikolais, and great-granddaughters, Marisa and Luisa in the USA. Irmgarde Mikelsons was born on November 29, 1913 in Akniste, Latvia. After graduating from high school, Irmgarde studied mathematics at the University of Latvia. At the end of the Second World War, the advancing Soviet Army forced her to go to Germany as a refugee. In1950 Irmgarde came to the United States and settled in Minnesota. For many years she worked as a bookkeeper at a national insurance company. For over 60 years Irmgarde was a member of the Latvian Ev. Luth. Church in Minneapolis, and a supporter of the Latvian community in Minnesota. Memorials preferred to Latvian Ev. Luth. Church.
