Wensing, Mary Ellen 83, NE Mpls. Born to Edward Golden and Bessie Lee on June 27, 1929 in Crosby, MN. Died Dec. 29, 2012. Graduated from C-I High School as valedictorian in 1947. Waitressed summers at Ruttger's Bay Lake Resort, while attending Hamline University where she earned her teaching degree. First taught at Huntley, MN until moving to NE Mpls. Married John in 1952. She worked at Honeywell. She taught in Mpls. Public Schools from 1962-1985 as a reserve teacher at various Mpls. Schools including Northeast Jr. and Edison Sr. where her own children attended. She also taught as a religious release and bible school teacher. In addition to raising her family, she was very active in Trinity United Methodist Church, Campfire, enjoyed summers at the cabin on the Prairie River in McGregor, Minnesota and she was a travel park activity leader at her winter home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Survived by children: Jeanne Ellingson, Laurie (Tom) Pierner and John Todd Wensing; grandchildren: Nicholas and Clinton Bailey, Lindsay (Ben) Winterfeld, Kari Jensen; great-grandchildren: Emma and Tyson; sister-in-law, Shirley (Gene) Krhin; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mary Ellen (Punky), was a loving aunt, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed singing in the church choir and, above all, her family and friends. Services Jan. 2, 2013 in Brainerd, 11:00 a.m., Park United Methodist Church, (218) 829-4116. Visitation one hour prior to service at church. Private interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
