Nina, You are often in my thoughts. When I can't remember where people are from, or who they work for, I ask you for help and you send it to me! You were the master of connections, and both listening and remembering. Thank you for your inspiration!

July 2, 2019

On this anniversary of Nina's passing, I just wanted to share that I often think I still see her out running - often along Dell Road! As faces get closer, I realize of course its not her, but the memory of seeing her out and about so often in the community is so imprinted in me, that her image is still there. She is so very missed!

I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss. I knew Nina from the health club, and unfortunately never even knew her name until she was tragically taken from us, despite seeing her everyday at the club, and sharing locker space with her. She was one of the few people I chit chatted with, and I'm going to miss her warm smile and bright eyes! She was always so sweet!

I would like to add my condolences to the MacKay family and to the long list of people who knew and loved Nina. As with many others, our friendship began in the early Flagship days. Nina's positive outlook was contagious and her bubbly personality, energizing. I always felt uplifted just having been around her. Without her encouragement I would never have believed I could run a first marathon at age 45 -- I proceeded to run 4 of them -- my last one on my 50th birthday. She will always be a bright spot in my memories. My heart goes out to you in losing her at such a young age. But it must be a comfort and inspiration that she gave so much to so many in the time that she had and that is quite a legacy to leave behind.

We live in the neighborhood and always have loved seeing Nina walk or run every day. She passed out waves and smiles to everyone. If I crossed paths with her on the sidewalk, she would always extend a greeting and bright face - We will truly miss seeing her in our neighborhood - she touched lives who didn't even know her, just by being that friendly face you could count on to give you a giant smile as she passed. You are all in our thoughts during this difficult time.

My deepest regrets go out to you and your family, Ian. I know we've lost touch over the years since Data General, but I was oddly just thinking about Nina. I will always remember her energetic spirit and bubbly personality. I've always forwarded the article to Mike so he's aware.

We have had the pleasure of working with Helen and Ross for many years at the VIM Clinic in Hilton Head and had the fortune of meeting their lovely family at a special party a few years ago. Dear I an,Cameron and Linsey,
I also met Nina 21 years ago. We had our kids in the childcare at flagship. She was always full of energy and cared greatly about fitness where I could relate to. Over the years I would run into her at various places.Always the same Nina. How could you forget her? Everyone new her.I was so sad when she was identified. Still have trouble understanding it all.She will always be in my memories.

July 12, 2013

Nina was one of a kind - so very special in so many ways. I remember the early days of soccer when Jamie & Lindsay played together and Ian - you were coach; of course, Nina was team manager and not only did she organize all team matters, she worked the sideline. She knew everyone and passed on encouragement when needed, always trying to get me to go running or walking with her! Years later we reunited at the High School when she was at the resource center and then again at Jerry's doing greeting cards.
No matter how much time passed, Nina always greeted you with that warm, friendly smile that we are all going to miss. May all the wonderful memories and beautiful thoughts of Nina give you strength in the days to come. Our sincere sympathy, Leslee Cairncross and children, Blake, Jackee & Jamie

I met Mrs. Mackay many times over the years and she never failed to make all of her son's friends feel welcome when we descended en mass onto her home, often with little prior warning, for movie nights. She always took the time to talk to all of us and never failed to greet us with a smile.
She was the embodiment of the
'Minnesota Nice' that our state is known for and she will be missed.

Dear Ian, Cameron and Lindsay
My deepest sympathy to all of you!!
I too met Nina at Flagship, 21 years ago when Cameron was a tiny baby. I was working out in the tv room which used to be downstairs by the pool before all the tv's came to the club. Nina brought Cameron in his infant seat.Ian my husband Ken and I have visted with you and Nina at the Rotary wine tastings. Nina always loved to talk about her kids and was so proud of them. I loved seeing Nina run down Dell road and I always gave her a friendly honk!! She always had a smile on her face and always greeted everyone at the health club. Sadly as we were driving down Dell road I said to my husband I hope it wasn't Nina. I was so sad to read in the paper it was her. Lynn was our former neighbor. I am glad Nina was with her in her last moments!! Nina was "Eden Prairie" for all that she did for our community!!Thanks Nina for that. You will be missed by so many! Thinking of all of you during this difficult time!!

July 10, 2013

Our heartfelt sympathy to Ian, Cameron and Lindsay in the loss of your beautiful wife and mother. We met Nina in the early Flagship days. She could have been the Flagship ambassador always smiling and promoting fitness! Her presence will definately be missed in our community.
May you find comfort in knowing how she touched so many lives and made a difference. The Simpsons, Cathy, Jay, Taylor and A.J.

July 9, 2013

Dear Makay's,
I continue to think and pray for all off you. I remember seeing Nina swiftly walking through EP Lifetime, but she never passed without greeting you with a salutation and a smile. She spoke so proudly of her husband, children and her
dogs.
My son asked after seeing her on the news if I knew Nina. I said I did know her from the club and the neighborhood. He said she always waved to him and he wondered if it was because she knew he was my
son. I responded that was possible but it was also Nina's way, to reach out to people.
The Lifetime club seems so quiet without Nina' s presence. She will be missed.
Fondly, Renee Lau

I have known Nina for over 20 years. We worked out at Flagship together long before she had children. I never got to know them but she was so proud of them and talked of them all of the time. I missed her today, she always came in from her run and got on a bike with me before we went to the Tuesday Pilates class. Nina, you were quite an amazing woman and will be greatly missed.

I met Nina back in the 90's when Lifetime was Flagship; she was always so friendly and upbeat; took the time to ask how I was doing whenever she saw me. She will be remembered for her smile and outgoing personality. May you be comforted in knowing how many lives Nina touched.

Ian, Cameron and Lindsay, Nina was one of those people with an amazing gift of being able to connect with others and remember even the smallest of details. She had a way of making everyone feel special. I hope knowing that your mom was very well known and very well loved brings you joy.

Our condolences to you Ian, Cameron and Lindsay as well as the extended family members. The loss of Nina (your Mom) is so tragic. Nina was always smiling with her entire being, her sparkly eyes and bright smile. Always a kind word. She will be remembered by everyone in a positive light. She certainly loved her family and her dogs. We will miss visiting with her and seeing her around town walking the dogs or running. We are so sorry. The Zierwicks, Brian, Cindy and Natalie

Ian, Cameron and "Linz",

Words cannot adequately say how we feel. Our family has been blessed in knowing Nina over the last 15 years. She cared deeply about everyone and everything in her life. I am proud to say she was my friend and my children's friend. And we will miss her dearly. Her energetic and positive attitude was contagious. She was never afraid to say what she thought and more often than not put it into action leading with her heart and determination. She has touched so many people in our community more than anyone will ever know, personally as a friend or as a student through the CRC at Eden Prairie High School, on school district advisory committees, as a fan and volunteer of the Eden Prairie Soccer Club, at a Lifetime Fitness class or just by running by throughout the city. Eden Prairie has lost a most cherished member and friend of their community. She made a difference.

She has left an imprint on our hearts.

Her amazing smile…we will never forget her. We are honored just to have been her friend.

We wish healing for you, be comforted that she lived a life that was full, one that overflowed.

Most Sincerely,
Richard, Lisa, Emma and Izzy

I am so sorry Ian, Cameron, and Lindsey for your loss. When I heard of the accident I instantly thought of Nina's smile (as I'm sure most would say the same); and remembering her spunk and zest for life. Her energetic personality and happy disposition is what drew people to her. Such a blessing to be known by so many; and all whom did, can proclaim what was dearest to Nina's heart; Her family. And as for her beloved dogs; they will sadly miss her daily presence as well, for Nina's passion and love will be hard to replace.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
