Heitke, David A. 69, of Mpls., died on June 29, 2012 of a heart attack while descending from Mt. Sneffels in Ouray, CO. Dave had a lifelong love of the outdoors - he kayaked, rock climbed, and mountain climbed. He had reached the summit of about 50 14'er's in CO., along with Kilimanjaro in 2010 and Aconcagua in 2009. He died doing what he loved most. Dave retired in 2007 after having careers in computer systems management and as a math professor. Dave had a BS from North Central College and 2 Masters from Brown University and University of Rhode Island. He was an intelligent man with an intense curiosity about every person and idea he encountered. Dave and Kris Felbeck were married for 32 years. They have two sons, Daniel and Michael. They shared trips to many places and both sons have inherited a sense of adventure. Other surviving relatives include his brother, Bruce Heitke (New Carrollton, MD) and an aunt, Pearl Heitke (Paynesville, MN.) A memorial service will be on July 9 at 3 pm at First Congregational Church of Minnesota, 500 8th Ave SE, Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one of the following: Ouray Mountain Rescue Team, PO Box 220, Ouray, CO 81427 National Outdoor Leadership School, 284 Lincoln St, Lander, WY 82520-2848 First Congregational Church of Minnesota, 500 8th Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414.
