James D. Puzak

Puzak, James D. Our beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend has died of complications of Multiple Myeloma. Jim was born in Mpls to Al and Carrie on Aug. 21, 1955. He died on Jan. 8, 2014 after a 4-month battle with an aggressive cancer. Jim lived in St. Louis Park almost all of his life. He graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1973 and attended the U of M-Duluth. He worked at various jobs but spent the last 20 years working for Knollwood Liquor. He enjoyed the work and made lifelong friends. In fact, Jim had a special quality of making and keeping his friends. His last week in the hospital was a parade of friends and family who had known and loved Jim throughout his life. Jim was an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Golden Valley, serving as an usher during Sunday Mass. He was a long-time volunteer for the American Cancer Society. As a younger man he enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling, hunting and golf. More recently, he loved gardening and golfing. He was an avid Grateful Dead fan and he traveled to as many concerts as he could. Jim also took every opportunity to travel the world. He was preceded in death by his father, Alexander E. Puzak. He is survived by his mother, Caroline C. Puzak; sister, Carolyn (Bernard) Luken; brother, Dan (Colleen) Puzak; nephews, Matthew Luken, Michael Luken, Thomas Puzak and Joseph (Danielle) Puzak; several aunts and many cousins. His 3 grand-nieces & 1 grand-nephew were of special delight to him. The family wants to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at Methodist Hospital. A special note to Fr. Fehn whose kind and loving words eased our broken hearts.
