Ms. Lucia Susanna "Lucy" Aldrich, age 81, died Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta. She was a native of Wuppertal, Germany. Ms. Aldrich met her husband of 44 years, Carl Aldrich, while he was stationed in Livorno, Italy. They then moved back to his native city, Statesboro. Ms. Aldrich was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt. She worked at Marydell Styles Clothing Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Aldrich; her parents, Silvio Conte and Berta Hulin; six brothers and one sister.
Survivors include a daughter, Carla (Robert) Thackston of Evans, Ga.; two sisters, Teresa Conley of Augusta and Iolanda Moore of Concord, N.C.; three grandchildren, Robert Carl Thackston, Ryan Gabriel Thackston and Evan Drew Thackston, all of Evans, Ga.; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7 p.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Mathews Catholic Church with Father Rafael Estrada officiating.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service until the funeral hour. Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Hodges-Moore Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
