I was blessed to have spoken to Gloria and Craig on Christmas morning. Not knowing he would go home to be with the Lord so soon afterwards. I reminded him and Gloria about the time he asked me to train him for basic training in the marines. Craig was already a track star in high school. But he wanted more. So I took my dad's old army duffel bag from WWII and put 25 LB weights in them. I then ran Craig up Farmers Blvd. and Liberty Blvd up to Liberty Park in Queens, New York City(The park was renamed Detective Keith L. Williams Park in 1991). In severe snow storm weather at that. He was always determined to be the best he could be. Our 189th Street football team never lost a game. In part due to Craig's heart, and also movie producer/actor Larry B. Scott. We challenged blocks from all over Queens and never lost. Needless to say, basic training was a breeze for Craig when he entered the marines. His drill sergeant always commented how tough and focused Craig was. As a family man and friend, you couldn't find a kinder person on earth. He was generous to a fault. He would give you the shirt off his back. Help you rebuild your car or your house-and then wouldn't accept any payment.
