Dodd, Mr. Terry W.  
Mr. Terry W. Dodd, age 51, died on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. The Fitzgerald native was raised in Cordele, Ga., and graduated from Crisp County High School in 1982. He attended Auburn University and graduated in 1987 with a degree in chemistry. Mr. Dodd worked in several locations including Sandersville with ECC Kaolin Company; Coats and Clark Company in Albany; Vanity Fair Corporation in Monroeville, Ala.; West Point Stevens in Auburn, Ala.; and IsoChem located in South Carolina. Mr. Dodd moved to Statesboro in 2004 and was employed by King America Finishing (Milliken Industries) as a technical manager. He was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Margaret "Peggy" Marshall Dodd of Statesboro; four sons and one daughter-in-law, William Edward Dodd, David Marshall Dodd, Robert Elijah Dodd, all of Statesboro, and Charles Jacob and Sidney Dodd of Beauregard, Ala.; his parents, William H. and Judith C. Dodd of Madison, Ga.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Scott and Pam Dodd of Madison, Ga., and Ben and Amanda Dodd of Niceville, Fla. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Roland Barnes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Duran, Mr. Jay Edward "Ed" - Pooler  
POOLER -- Mr. Jay Edward "Ed" Duran, 68, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at Memorial Health University Medical Center. Ed was born in Fulton County to the late Walter ansd Evie Duran. He retired from the Georgia Army National Guard and attended The Church at Godley Station. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren; camping, fishing, grilling and feeding the squirrels and birds. He was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Pat Murdock (Jay), Lewis Duran and Howard Duran. Survivors include his wife, Judy Maddox Duran; children, Alan Duran (Oma), Julie Mizell (Paul), Jennifer Wegmann (Donnie), Jennifer Smith (Jimmy), Leighanne Duran, Joshua Duran (Christie); and his beloved dog, Puck the Pug; grandchildren, Abigail, Rachel, Dalton, Bobby, Spencer, Natalie, Danika, Makayla, Austin and Logan; sister, Lena Patton (Dub, deceased); brother, Walt Duran (Gwen); and a number of nieces and nephew. The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel of the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home located at 901 West Highway 80 in Pooler. Dick, Mr. Charles Herbert - Brooklet  
BROOKLET, Ga. -- Mr. Charles Herbert Dick, age 50, died Sunday morning at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro following a brief illness. The Roberta, Georgia, native was a 1983 graduate of Peach County High School in Fort Valley, Ga., and a graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Ga. During school, Charles was very active in the 4-H program. Following his education and receiving several associate degrees from ABAC, Charles worked for 10 years with the Peach County Board of Education Athletic Facilities. He later worked in Macon, Ga., with Geico for six years as a sales and customer service representative. In 2011, Charles moved to Brooklet, Ga. In January of 2012, he began a new career with the Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Nevils, Ga., where he and his wife were ministry leaders with the College and Career Ministry and he was a member of the Men's Ministry and served as an usher. Charles was active in the Relay for Life with the county committee. He spent much time researching his family's history and all aspects of genealogy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Parker; and a great-niece, McKinley Adkinson. Surviving are his wife, Kim Watson Dick of Brooklet; a daughter and son-in-law, Katarina Parker Allred and Kaleb of Byron, Ga.; two stepchildren, Jonathan Hill of Statesboro and Jessica Hill of Statesboro; two grandchildren, Ireland Hill and Kealan Hill; his father, Billy Dick of Fort Valley, Ga.; a sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Glenn Adkinson of Fort Valley; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ronnie and Lydia Daniels of Statesboro. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Nevils, Ga., with the Rev. Joe Eason officiating. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Fulmer, Stephen Adkinson, Glenn Adkinson, Jason Boyles, Marty Glisson and Cannon Pettijean. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the College and Career Ministry of Trinity Baptist Church and the employees of Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 1172 Nevils-Denmark Road, Nevils, Georgia, 31321; or the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, 201 South Main Street Suite A, Statesboro, GA 30458.
