Jewson M.D., Douglas Vance - Carlos
Douglas V. Jewson, M.D, age 75, of Carlos, Minnesota, passed from this life into his Heavenly Father's arms, with his family by his side, Thursday, April 28, 2016. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Alexandria Covenant Church with the Rev. John LeVahn officiating. Music will be provided by pianist Nancy Holm and vocalist Tim Erickson. Interment will be in Carlos Prairie Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. Douglas Vance Jewson was born May 25, 1940, to Vance and Ruth (Hathaway) Jewson in Minneapolis. He attended Washburn High School, graduated in 1966 from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed an internship and residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology at WVU Medical Center in Morgantown, West Virginia. Following military service as chief of medicine and cardiology at Irwin Army Hospital, Fort Riley, Kansas, he practiced in private medicine until the year 2000. His church affiliation was Alexandria Covenant since 1992. Doug and his wife of 35 years, Diane, made their home on Lake Carlos. His hobbies were genealogy, photography, woodworking, walking and cutting wood to keep, as he would say, "his southern wife warm." He loved activities with his children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, especially summer and winter activities with his extended family. During his later years, his admiration for his beloved mother-in-law and two others who were in Christian ministry led him to writing and publishing their biographies. He was preceded in death by his parents. Doug is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Ryan Webb of New York, Katherine Campbell of Oregon, Emily Jewson of West Virginia, Laurie Streets of Florida and Christopher DeBar of New York; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, siblings, Jo Bennet of Maine, Roberta Pisa of Minnesota and Dwight Jewson of Washington; mother-in-law, Elsie Moses Detweiler of Florida; brother-in-law, Larry Moses of Georgia; and sister-in-law, Susan Stewart of Ohio. Memorials preferred. Arrangements provided by Lind Family Funeral & Cremation Services, www.lindfamilyfh.com .
