Lanier, Nancy (Durden) - Metter  
Nancy Durden Lanier, 78, of Metter, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Ogeechee Area Hospice. Born in Cobbtown, the daughter of the late Leon Vasco and Annie Bell Glisson Durden, she has devoted her life to taking care of her family. In the past year, she has given great care to her husband as his health declined. She loved to cook, always looking for new recipes. Playing the piano, sewing, tending to her potted plants was her pleasure. Nancy was active in the garden club in her early years, winning events with her creative exhibits. Survivors are her husband, Charles Lanier of Metter; three sons and daughters-in-law, Sidney and Bonnie Lanier of Swainsboro, Stanley and Connie Lanier, Stevie and Dennie Kay Lanier, all of Metter; grandchildren, Luke Lanier, and wife, Susannah, of Metter; Leah Frye, and husband, Zac, of Swainsboro; Adrienne and Abbey Lanier, Rhett and Haley Lanier, all of Metter; two great-granddaughters, Ansley and Avery Frye of Swainsboro; two brothers, Jimmy, and wife, Marge Durden, of California; and Johnny Durden, and friend, Dot Wright, of Shellman Bluff. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Craig Lanier and Elder Sam Bowen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Lee, Mr. Frederick - Portal  
PORTAL, Ga. -- Mr. Frederick Lee, age 53, passed into eternal rest on Monday, February 13, 2015, at the Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Ga. He was a native of Bulloch County and a member of the Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church. He leaves to cherish his memories: six children, Frederick Washington, Jarvis Washington, Harold Washington and Terry Washington, all of Portal, Ga., Kenyatta Smith of Statesboro, Ga., and Conner Washington of Portal, Ga.; his mother, Lue Helen Wiggins of Portal, Ga.; and his father, Willie Fred Brown of Boston, Mass.; five sisters, Serena Wiggins (Nate Budgett) of Portal, Ga., Debra Wiggins of Metter, Ga., Melissa Wiggins of Statesboro, Ga., Mechelle (Henry) Brinson and Samantha Taylor of Statesboro, Ga.; one brother, Simuel Maurie (Annette) Wiggins of Portal, Ga.; nine grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at noon in the Ben Samuel Hill Memorial Chapel of Hill's Mortuary. Online condolences may be expressed at hillsmortuaryinc.com.
