Pershing, Mrs. Nancy Belle - Statesboro  
STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Nancy Belle Pershing, age 88, died on February 5, 2015, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after a short illness. The native of Akron, Ohio, lived in Hendersonville, N.C., and West Palm Beach, Fla., prior to moving to Statesboro in April 2014. She resided at Southern Manor Retirement Inn. She was the daughter of William G. and Kathryn F. Pershing. She was a graduate of Our Lady of the Elms Girls School and the University of Akron with a BA in English. She worked as a secretary for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, General Electric and Great Western Bank. Mrs. Pershing was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Boynton Beach, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Kathryn Pershing Jenior. Surviving are two nieces, Sally (Sam) Gasparri of Statesboro, Ga., and Deborah Corvey of Boynton Beach, Fla.; great-nieces, Judy Mocabee of Verdi, Nev., and Gina Wood of Boynton Beach, Fla.; great-nephew, Larry Wood Jr. of Boynton Beach, Fla. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Pittman Park United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Bagwell officiating. The family will receive friends at a luncheon following the service in the church parlor. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Pittman Park United Methodist Church, 1102 Fair Road, Statesboro, GA 30458. Peterson Jr., Adrian Nicholas "A.J."  
Adrian Nicholas Peterson Jr., affectionately known as A.J., gained his wings on February 17, 2015. He was born on August 7, 2007, in Lake Forest, Illinois, the son of Adrian and Angela (Bailey) Peterson. He attended Avon School in Grayslake, Illinois, for two years and spent his last year at Park School in Round Lake, Ill. He was currently working on becoming the strongest police officer ever. A.J. attended The Chapel in Libertyville, Ill. A.J. touched the lives of many. He became famous as the leader of AJ Soars, a society of family and friends dedicated to fight DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) with A.J. Throughout the last eight months, A.J. exemplified a great deal of strength and love. He never complained. A.J.'s smile will forever be embedded in the hearts of everyone that had the privilege of meeting him. A.J. is survived by his parents, Angela and Adrian Peterson; his brother, Aaden; and his sisters, Amelia and Alana. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Cornelius and Robin Taylor of Kingsland, Ga., and Kenneth Bailey of Folkston, Ga.; his paternal grandparents, Porter and Reatha Peterson of Gainesville, Fla.; and his god parents, Spencer and Samantha Smith and Michael and Chantal Peterson. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1285 Kinlaw Road, Woodbine, GA 31569. Interment will be on Monday, February 23, in Forest Meadows Cemetery, Gainesville, Fla. Interment will be handled by Chestnut Funeral Home, Gainesville, Fla.
