STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Betty Florence Deal Stringer, age 83, died Monday, January 6, 2014, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility.
Mrs. Stringer was a native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby W. Stringer; her parents, Horace and Bernice Deal; her sisters, Carene Deal Mallard and Helen Deal Scott; and a brother, J.W. Deal.
Mrs. Stringer was employed with various businesses, Statesboro Telephone Company, Rockwell, Statesboro Floral Shop and Stringer Chevron, where she worked with her husband until her retirement.
She enjoyed being a homemaker, loved her sons, their spouses, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stringer was a member of the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Vonnie Stringer and Jappy and Emily Stringer, all of Statesboro; her grandchildren, Jennifer and Ty Hayman of Claxton, Jason Stringer of Savannah, Katie and Chris Page and Lauren Stringer of Statesboro and Jarrad and Rachel Rowse of Augusta; four great-grandchildren, Savanna and Gentry Hayman of Claxton and Wilt and Finley Grace Page of Statesboro; three brothers, Edgar (Diane) Deal, Hugh (Kay) Deal of Statesboro and Charles Deal and Velda Deal of San Antonio, Texas; a brother-in-law, W.C. (Nancy) Stringer of Sylvania; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stringer is also survived by her care givers, George and Elma McBride and Eva Stevens.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Randy Waters officiating. Interment will be in the Eastside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Stringer, Ty Hayman, Chris Page, Brian Deal, Stuart Deal, Randy Scott and Russell Smith.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459.
