STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Gloria Davis Fowler, age 81, died May 1, 2014, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. She was a 1949 graduate of Morven High School and a 1951 graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College; she raised two children while her husband served his country during the Korean Conflict. Mrs. Fowler volunteered as a "Pink Lady" at the local hospital for 26 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Statesboro and a faithful member of the Lydia Sunday School Class. She was a member of West End Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga., until she and her husband moved to Statesboro in the early 1970s. She was preceded in death by her husband Doug Fowler; her parents Charles and Winnie Davis and two brothers Kenneth Davis and Sonny Davis.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law; Danny and Marsha Fowler of Dacula, Ga.; her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Craig Ford of Villa Rica, Ga.; three granddaughters, Sara Fowler, Maria and Madelin Ford; a sister-in-law, Florene Fowler; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The Memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of First Baptist Church of Statesboro, GA. with visitation to precede the service at 2 p.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Lydia Sunday School Class.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459, or to First Baptist Church Nursing Ministry 108 North Main Street, Statesboro, GA 30458.
