James Warren "Pat" Sweat

Pat was born in Alexandria, Va., into a military family. As a boy, he moved as the need required. Later, the family came to settle in Bulloch County, where he made friends that would last his lifetime. He made his living with his hands, whether he was building a motor, painting or dry walling a house. He used his hands for his hobby as well. He enjoyed taking something battered or broken and turning it into something practical and useful. He loved fishing, riding his motorcycle and his family.
He is survived by his parents, John and Lillian Sweat of Statesboro; and his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Elaine and Paul Massey of Statesboro and Linda and John Cheeseman of Greencove Springs, Fla.; his aunt, Linda Clifton of Statesboro; his aunt, Wanda Odom of Augusta, Ga.; his aunt and uncle, Carolyn and Tommy Steffey of Brunswick, Ga.; and aunt and uncle, Michael and Dorothy Howell of Hephzibah, Ga.; his nephews, Jimi Boyd, John Marsh, Jacob Massey, Scott Cheeseman, Jason Cheeseman, their spouses and the many great-nieces and nephews who adored him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the in his name.
The memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Goloid Baptist Church in Screven County.
