METTER, Ga. -- Mrs. Jennie Lind Ellington Wilkerson, age 70, died Tuesday morning at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro. The Twin City, Georgia, native lived most of her life in the Metter and Twin City areas. She was a retired seamstress, working with several area sewing factories until her retirement from Pride Manufacturing in Portal several years ago.
Jennie loved reading, fishing and especially playing Dominoes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Newton Ellington and Essie Mae Martin Ellington.
Surviving are a daughter, Virginia Stille of Ellabell; three sons, Earl Wilkerson of Claxton, Joe Wilkerson of Metter and Dean Wilkerson of Twin City; her grandchildren, Schneice, Lynda Kay, Amy, Brandi, Clint and Ashley; and her great-grandchildren, Hailey Way, Hayden Way and Drake Brazell. Also surviving is her best friend, Mrs. Jean Picknell.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the El Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Emanuel County.
Pallbearers will be Clint Wilkerson, Michael Trevino, LaRann Wilkerson, LaDon Wilkerson, Jack Wilkerson and Kevin Allen.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459.
