STATESBORO, Ga. -- Ms. Jerrity Polite, age 51, passed away peacefully at Ogeechee Area Hospice, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, December 29th, after a short illness. She was a native of Live Oak, Suwannee County, Florida, and attended the public schools of Live Oak. She had resided in Bulloch County for several years and was a former employee of Pleasant View Nursing Home.
She is survived by her significant other, Henry Torrence, Portal; a daughter, Lakisha Polite, and son-in-law, Cory Johnson, Miramar, Fla.; stepchildren, Terrell, Neiya and E. Torrence, all of Portal; her mother, Annie Lois Mathis, and stepfather, Palmer L. Mathis, Miami, Fla.; sister, Loretta Polite, Portal; three brothers, Bobby G. Polite Jr., Gary Polite and Gerald Polite, all of Miami, Fla.; four grandchildren, Cortelia, Cortavia, Cornya and Cordeja Johnson, all of Miramar, Fla.; ; one aunt, Elnora Walker, Miami, Fla.; two nieces, Bea Edwards, Detroit, Mich., and Towonna Jordan, Portal; and a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be a public viewing on Wednesday, January 1, 2014, in the chapel of James R. Barnes Mortuary from noon until 6 p.m.
The funeral service for Mrs. Polite will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Live Oak, Fla. Burial will be in Briar Cemetery, Live Oak.
