STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Jerry Dean Martin, age 71, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at his residence under the care of Odyssey Hospice. The native of Rockwood, Tenn., lived most of his life in Jacksonville, Fla., before moving to Statesboro two years ago. He was a retired party chef and had been a cab driver in earlier years. He had a passion for cooking and was known for his p-nuts and homemade lasagna.
Surviving are his wife, Deborah Porter Martin; two daughters, Tracy Howell and Trina Howell of Portal; three sons, James Martin of Portal, Dean Martin of Jacksonville and Michael Martin of California; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James Edward and Donna Porter of Statesboro; and his grandchildren, Roy Garrison, Devin Howell, Dallas Potter, Hailie Potter, Layla Potter, James Martin Jr., Cody Martin, Melanie Martin and Justin Martin.
The graveside service and burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Bulloch Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Roy Jarriel officiating.
