MACON, Ga. - Jewell Arnold, a resident of John Wesley Villas in Macon, passed away Sunday evening, October 12, 2008, with family at her side at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro. She was born in Gray, Ga., in Jones County.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Ted Bass will officiate.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.
Mrs. Arnold was a faithful member of Lynmore United Methodist Church for 59 years, teaching Sunday school and serving on various church committees and was a member of the United Methodist Women's Organization.
Mrs. Arnold retired from Robins Air Force Base, having previously worked at Naval Ordinance. She devoted many years of volunteer service to Macon Outreach Ministry and Volunteer Macon.
Survivors include her daughter, Sondra Butler of Statesboro; son, Cary Arnold (Dee) of Orange Park, Fla.; sister, Evelyn Williams of Macon; grandchildren, Lindy Clark and Tracey Guerrero of Portland, Ore., Brent, Brian and Chad Arnold, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; five great-grandchildren.
