GARDEN CITY - Mr. Maurice L. "M.L." Allen, 84, passed away Monday, October 4, 2010, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Allen was originally from Alston, Ga. He was best known for his career in sales. He was sales manager for Sunshine Biscuit Co., salesman for Greene Grocery and owner of the original Kwik Way Foods and Discount Foods.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Rosalee and James Allen of Alston, Ga.; three brothers, Melvin, Jemell and Billy Allen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Margie Shuman Allen; his children, Connie (Aubrey) Edenfield of Clyo and Debra (Randy) Boyles of Oliver; grandchildren, Phillip (Candi) DeLoach, Shanda (William) Denham, Michael (Lauren) Edenfield, Megan (Daniel) Burnsed and Devin Boyles; great-grandchildren, Angel, Angela and Jesse Denham, Isabel Burnsed, Brannen Edenfield, Ariel and Evonie Burnsed; brothers, Royce (Ethelene) Allen and Jerry Allen; sisters, Pauline (Johnny) Odum, Betty (Austin) Morris and Barbara (Calvin) Hart; sisters-in-law, Melba Allen and Bobbie Nell Allen; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 6, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be Thursday, October 7, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in Northside Cemetery in Pembroke.
