Merrily Mann Franklin, 66, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 2, 2014. Merrily was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading to her children and grandchildren. She served as secretary for the Friends of the Candler County Library for many years. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Atlanta, Ga. Merrily's other loves were classical music, art and above all her family, especially her grandchildren.
Merrily is survived by her husband of 44 years, Grady Franklin; son, Benjamin Louie (Kelley) Franklin; daughter, Derin Lea Franklin (special friend, Dr. Jamey Parker, Jimmy and Holly); grandchildren, Emily, Hannah, Hardy and Jackson Franklin; sisters, Lea Mann Sealey and Tina Mann (Dr. Russell) Atchley; brother-in-law, Robert (Connie) Franklin; special friends, John and Matt Dixion; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Sara Mann; and her father-in-law and her mother-in-law, Ben and Hortense Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite local charity.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Metter First Baptist Church.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and one hour following the service.
Wood Funeral Home of Metter is in charge of arrangements.
